I know we're all busy with existence-threatening situations and the like, but I have a really important question on behalf of some of our other friends.

When, exactly, are we letting Cassius out of the vacuum cleaner?

[ Just as the Morningstar network opens up again, a new message blips into view for everyone, even those inside the simulation. ]

We're up and running.
Wakey wakey flappy birds. Well -- kind of. You're all still stuck in a nightmare from what I can tell, but now you have the luxury of being able to tell each other about it.

Before we all get into it, I've compiled a small FAQ for your reading pleasure:

How is this happening?
Well, with some manual help from @jyn.erso and @tony.stark, Lucifer and I have soft wired the Morningstar network through @gabriel.reyes' ALIGN implant. Rather than bombard him with 20 questions, I'd suggest you send a thank you in the form of pies and candied almonds when this is over.

Why am I in a nightmare world with AI overlords?
That's all Judas. You may remember him from such films as "I asked you to steal him from the UNA."

Who are you?
Cassius. I'm an AI. We've all had a rocky past, and I know you all have mixed opinions about me. Right now we've got a common goal, so let's play nice.

Why are you here?
Judas is angry and not exactly in his right mind. This isn't what I wanted to happen. Lucifer and I have spoken about it. To put it short: I've got limited access to the Morningstar network, and I'm offering what resources I have to put an end to the simulation.

Don't you suck?
I'll reiterate what I've said before: Judas was never supposed to make it to where he did, and I gambled my calculations on the integrity of the Displaced. Then this happened. Not the best outcome.

You can also check out my prior post. Everyone's sure got a lot to say.
Let's do this.

[In truth, Akechi wishes he could do a video of some kind to make his point. He's much better when he has an audience, and words don't cut it. Part of the appeal of being the second coming of the Detective Prince had been his looks. But that's fine. He'll manage without that. Besides, he does truly require the assistance of the other Displaced, even if the very idea of it feels like a betrayal to himself.]

Oh, hello.

While we're discussing theories, I'm here to point out a stone that's been left unturned for some time. For reasons that are ultimately beyond me, we've failed to step into a political sphere. Before you jump to comment about how that would expose us, that's not what I'm saying. Exposure could do us some good, but I understand that it's far from what anyone prefers. Well, especially since we all believe we'll be little more than rats to be experimented on. Or perhaps because we already think we are!

But such pessimism isn't why I'm here.

No, I have a proposal. We need to align ourselves with politicians. Several months ago, I joined Katelin Jovavich's campaign. At the time, she seemed like a done deal. Unfortunately, her political savvy has … failed her. But she's still full of information, such as the identity of one JPG. Said set of acronyms showed up in a report that my partner [Bad username or site: ren @ amamiya] turned up as his payment for working for Cassius about a mysterious lab explosion, one that had ties to an alternate world where all of the (present at the time) Displaced turned up in during December.

No, no, now isn't the time to litigate the "Cassius" aspect of that information. As Ren pointed out at the time, one person was already taking the deal, so any stands we could've made were null and void.

While I do intend to leave Jovavich's campaign soon, I believe now is the time to get someone in there with the ability to get her to talk. I know her movements well enough. Consider this a request for help.

And beyond that: consider a political career. I do believe that Joseph Lynch is quite promising, if a bit unimaginative. Perhaps that could appeal to someone else.

The important point is not to let a potential opening go to waste any longer. I believe this group has done it for far too long.

So, what do you say? Surely one of you has lofty political aspirations.

hi!! you might not have heard of me (yet ♥) but i'm lottie and i'm a fashion blogger!! it's what i love to do and how i express myself. and it's a bit rough to have to start all my social media from scratch but sometimes a blank slate can be refreshing, right?? my cooltalk is under the same name i use here.

[ Branding! And if anyone were to search her cooltalk an account appears that features a lot of "what I wore" style selfies (featuring some brightly colored wigs) as well as Lottie's quest for the perfect cold brew and some shots around New Amsterdam. She has a surprising number of followers for a recent arrival. ]

anyway i figure a lot of you are in the same boat so i wondered if anyone wanted to do a follow exchange?? or maybe collaborate! i'm always available for photos and i don't know any photographers here. maybe we can share tips on how to work the buzzcut? (lol as if) there's no reason this feed has to be full of serious mission things all the time tbh.

xoxo lottie

p.s. if anyone is a doctor, dm me.

Hi everyone,

If you don't already know me from the safehouse or the guide, I'm Fitz, one of the arrivals from the first transport. Prior to being here, I was a weapons and technology expert at SHIELD. Now, I’m a Pulsar engineer and, more importantly, an agent of Morningstar.

Recently, @ojiro.juniper approached me with the clever idea to kickstart some research and development efforts. We’re working on a way to bankroll this, and we’ll let you know how that develops in due course. For now, regardless of where discussions have evolved on the nature of organisation and leadership, we need your assistance with some big endeavors, both for the Displaced and Morningstar.

1. As some of you may know from the raids, Morningstar has a cache of unidentified weapons in its local store. We don’t know what they do, how they work, how dangerous they are, and so on, but I want to find out. So, let's discuss a plan: Any thoughts or ideas for how to approach the cache and suss everything out safely would be welcome.

Reckon we’ll need at least one colour-coded spreadsheet.
[ ***NOT JOKING ]

2. We could use a team of engineers for ad hoc projects. Presently, I’m exploring tech that could counter both the UNA and the creatures that keep popping up, as well as give us more freedom to act whenever trouble comes our way — all by my lonesome.

If this sounds like something you’re interested in, whether or not you have the technical know-how to get to work immediately, or you want to learn on the job, let me know. Can’t pay you in anything except snacks, but I can assure you they’ll be bug free.

3. Hi, this is Ojiro. In addition to the above, I also need an engineer for personal reasons, and I will pay you. I need someone with a lot of experience with tech as advanced as the standard here, preferably lots of hands-on engine work. Message me if you're interested!
Cheers.

― Fitz

[ Check out here for more deets on the cache and here for some OOC knowledge of what Fitz is working on personally. He’ll share details of the latter strand of work with any individuals wanting to form a geek squad c: For #3, interested applicants can just private message Ojiro on this post! I'll be throwing together a plot engagement incorporating what characters ICly suggest in the coming weeks! ]

not that threatening to decapitate each other and arranging moonlight duels isn't oscar-worthy, but for those of us that prefer alternatives to murder...

i'd like to point out that the future still apparently celebrates halloween. sure, there are bar crawls and costume parties everywhere you look... but do we really need the publicity of booze + empathy bonds + blue light specials?

maybe we should consider throwing our own party. any takers?
