[ someone's been dwelling on the aerie but, like, not in a traumatic way. cracks proverbial knuckles. ]
I had a conversation with Johann Grey, shortly before the gods were freed in the Aerie. My impression is that he had little to do with the Aerie's creation as a universe, and the version of him we saw in there was a position placed upon him by the god that also put us there in the first place. It is something to consider when we examine the roles placed upon all of us, how much of that might be a god’s perspective. He suspected it was largely the work of at least two of them and all but confirmed Gold’s involvement - which given the glowing eyed nature of the kestrel powers, makes sense.
I have caught up and see that James Henries is responsible for the death of the Blue god, but Grey had a friend in the Gold one in the Aerie. He claimed Gold was responsible for the Aerie, as well as the fact that we seem to have woken him up in the first place.
It was the recent expedition in May to Antarctica that woke up the Gold god. It would further explain the surge of golden eyed monsters that followed that earthquake and how they sought us out as Displaced. Ball's followers believe the gods are asleep, that previous god-touched individuals were left with the responsibility of keeping the world safe. We see signs of this throughout the history of this planet, with the hieroglyphics in New Cairo and the murals in New Oslo (my understanding of this world's timeline dates the art of these two societies at thousands of years apart). We, the Displaced, are the first evidence of the god-touch the cultists have seen in a long while. I realize this is old news for some of us, but we are constantly welcoming new numbers, so bear with it.
For those who were not able to reach under the volary, six of the gods were in bird cages, looking like wisps of color. The Gold one freely fluttered around Grey much like a bird. Blue is dead and we have pieces of him in us, Gold is awake, which means there are still five of them out there, presumably still asleep. Johann Grey was searching for a god in Antarctica, and we know he wanted to use Spinetail to wake Blue up. We can theorize he may be looking for the rest.
I do not trust Grey. But I do not believe he is an active threat to us. We do not seem to be his targets in the grand scheme so much as occasional collateral. I hope we can understand the difference, as I am not saying he is not dangerous, but his motivations seem more chaotically selfish than outright evil. He is aware of who we are and used Cassius to predict our continuous arrival in the Marianas Trench, and we know he worked with Henries, as well as Riverstone on Project Spinetail. They were first introduced in 2273 by an ancestor of Meredith Ling, the current CEO. A UN backed facility in New Omsk was used in a cover up for the Spinetail earthquake’s epicenter, which suggests UN involvement as well, but given how tightly Riverstone works with the UN, this is not a surprise. What concerns me more is what Riverstone or the UN might want with a god.
And Grey may still have Judas. He is not a safe man, and tracking him down still presents danger, even if his goals lie elsewhere.

Some of you are from worlds where your gods are active and known to you, and you to them. Some are from world where the gods are silent, if there are gods at all. Now that the gods of this world have been outed and worshipers are gathering, I wonder what they'll do.

Tell me: what is it you expect from them? Should great power be followed by great responsibility, as a friend of mine often says? That's my experience; indifference, arrogance... self-absorption. We gods care only for how our worshipers can give us strength or prestige or the feeling of power over others. We rarely see the good we can do. It's the mortals, those who suffer and die, who choose to think how they can help.
And we're rarely worthy of them.

Hello you lot. I know people might still be pissed about what went down, so ignore if you don't want an update, however.
So Riverstone sent us medical reports but since I don't know what any of it means, if someone with modern/medical know-how wants to look and explain shite, I'll send it to you. These are the summaries I think I understood:
Our powers don't seem to be biological? So when we used them they didn't show any biological changes? I think? Don't know what that means.
I agreed to do a dream study to try and figure out why I keep showing up in your dreams, they said strangely our brains appear completely awake when we're doing it. No wonder I'm bloody tired.
Also can someone who's been around for a bit explain what the Mariana Trench was?

I've found a firm that may be willing to represent us. Unfortunately it's becoming clear through my conversation with them that we'd have to disclose the truth about our IDs if we wanted to enter into any kind of partnership with them. In a nutshell, anything legally binding could become nullified without some extremely specific phrasing to accommodate our ID situation. Given that Riverstone finding out about Rey's fake ID is what set all of this into motion, an inquiry into the source of the IDs for the displaced would likely be inevitable. The law firm I was speaking with already started gently probing onto the subject and I haven't even entered a formal agreement with them yet. I haven't given them any information about it yet whatsoever.
This means we'd need to make a group decision to divulge the nature of our IDs to this law firm. We would have attorney-client privilege so this information would be considered legally confidential. Despite that, it's still a big choice to make and I don't have the right to make it for us as a whole one way or the other.
I'm going to put up a poll. Please only respond once. I'll only proceed if there's an overwhelming majority in favor of continuing.
It may be worth keeping in mind that when the truth of our IDs does inevitably come out, having an already established source of legal representation could help us navigate that. It's also worth keeping in mind that the version of the truth we tell doesn't have to be the entire one.

rey and i just left the meeting with riverstone. long story short: they want test subjects if we want answers to who they suspect is bringing all of us here. they aren't willing to budge on this. what a shocker.
why are they so interested in us? apparently, they want to know how we were able to disrupt the simulation back in may. given judas is still a credible threat, they're claiming to utilize what information they gain from the tests to potentially create a preventative measure against similar attacks in the future as well as help us learn more about our biology.

according to them, this person — not a group, a person — may have been involved in the marianas trench incident that riverstone believes we’re also connected to. apparently, good riverstone scientists were killed during that experiment. I know some of the displaced have already speculated that the marianas trench may be connected to us. riverstone agrees.
this person was never punished for their role in the experiment, and they’ve been operating extrajudicially. they seem to want to punish this person for the people they got killed. in other words, i think they’re on our side. really.

they've agreed to a NDA which will be included in the consent forms for volunteers. i've looked it over. it's airtight, but i just want to take a moment to point out that this is one of the largest corporate entities in this world. they have both the power and the means to do whatever the fuck they want with the data they collect without us ever knowing. so with that said, they're going to be conducting interviews to see what kind of tests we feel are appropriate. i strongly advise against any that will require a sample of our DNA or any that will be performed under general anesthesia.
full access to the data gathered will be given to the participants and relevant riverstone personnel. they've also agreed to let us have representatives present for the procedures.

if anyone is considering consenting to tests about these, i do think we should talk about it because these are powers that all of us share.

Apparently, I'm still on the UN's most wanted list, but someone prevented the UN from acting to bring me into custody.
I don't know who, and neither does Riverstone — in fact, they asked me about it.
But they know that I'm one of the Displaced, which actually explains a few things. I've been working for Riverstone for months. After I went to Everest, I was gone a bit longer than the rest of us, well beyond El's coverage. They gave me back my job anyway. I don't think this was news to them. If you ask me, that's a sign they're not out to get us, but I realize not everyone will agree there.
Now they want to talk to all of us, or as many of us as are interested. Riverstone is offering to pay travel expenses in New Beijing for one week for anyone who wants to undergo observation and testing of their power, and who's willing to answer some questions. I know that sounds scary. I know scary. The UNA had me in custody for some time, running "tests." But Riverstone claims that what they're offering is different, that we'll preview everything first.
Before you decide, I should mention ... they think they might know something about who's been dropping us off. In return for our cooperation, they're willing to exchange that information.
I'm not telling anyone what to do, and no one else should try to do that either. But if follow (this) link, you can register your information with the Riverstone employees in charge of this, and they'll reach out to you to arrange the trip.

I've finished the initial version of a sourced collection of information regarding what we know about this world.
Although the welcome guide offers a good overview of basic information (and goes in depth into some areas) as well as a general timeline of events, and therefore is on an appropriate scale so as not to overwhelm new arrivals, it's difficult to then include all the little details that have been learned over time. That's the point of this project: to collect as much information as possible, even if it seems very minor, in order to better understand the entire situation. The more pieces we have, the more we can try to draw connections and put together what we're dealing with and how to proceed.
That said, I'm sure I've missed something, misconstrued information, or otherwise made mistakes. So if you see something that's wrong, or know of something that's been left out, please let me know.

I hope everyone's doing as well as can be expected, at the very least, after everything that happened. Please remember that although rebuilding is important and many of you may be involved in those efforts, it's just as important to give yourselves enough time to recover physically and mentally, so make sure you're getting some rest.
Now that things have calmed down a little, and with the election coming up, I've been trying to get a sense of who the main groups and important individuals are here. A lot of information seems kind of obscure or contradictory, so I'm interested in hearing more first-hand opinions and experiences from anyone who's willing to share. Specifically, I'd like to know more about the past actions of those like Morningstar, the corporations, politicians or other important individuals, that sort of thing, as well as any noteworthy interactions we may have had with any of the as a group; basically anything that will help me get a sense of who the major actors are and what their motivations might be both in general and in regard to us.
[And, because whenever he posed questions like this in Hadriel someone would ask, he decides to add a little context.]
If anyone is wondering what I plan to do with the information, at home I'm a criminal profiler with the FBI, for those of you that means anything to. For those it doesn't, basically my job is to investigate major crimes--murder, usually--and use whatever evidence exists to determine a criminal's behavior, and therefore predict what they might do in the future or potentially outright identify them. The same principles can be applied on a larger scale, so I'm hoping to get a better idea of the situation and where people and organizations stand.

Given the turmoil here in New Amsterdam, we have an opportunity available to us. I've covered such an opportunity before, but I've learned that it's an utter waste of time to convince any of you to enter politics. But voting? That seems to be far easier.
There is an election in just four days' time. Even if you're "new," so to speak, you aren't according to your newfound ID and the guidelines of the city. That means you have a choice.
I'm here to outline that choice. Hopefully, none of you will be foolish enough to vote like fucking idiotic idealists, but my hopes aren't particularly high. I've seen how the Displaced think.
That said, in alphabetical order we have:
Lynch and Durcell are the most promising. Delafield-Chapin may suit your ideals, but she's going to be useless to us in office. I won't even waste more words on Ballo. We have enough time to rally support around one of our chosen candidates.
Let's not be idiots about it.

If we back a candidate, especially a candidate with power and resources, we'll be able to protect ourselves.
Amabel Delafield-Chapin. The first of two anti-establishment candidates. Unlike the other one (Durcell), Delafield-Chapin isn't in the big corporate pocket. But that means she's utterly inexperienced when it comes to leadership. She appears to be on our side, or inspired by us, but you can't ignore that the political world will eat her alive.
Simone Durcell. While they easily and carelessly set aside their position as the head of a Pulsar subsidiary, Durcell is a ruthless politician despite their lack of political experience. Durcell is heavily rumored to be in with the mob families in New Amsterdam, and I believe that we, as a group, have proof of that. The issue with Durcell is that they seem positively ruthless and opportunistic, so even if we have that evidence, it may be meaningless.
Joseph Lynch. Another man we have information on thanks to Cassius' intervention. Whether this would matter to the public means nothing. But for all of us, I believe we'd benefit from having him in office. He has a clean record and is the typical, uninspiring politician. What stands out most to me is that despite his long history with Ibis as their Public Relations director, the corporations were set to back Katelin Jovavich before her untimely demise. I don't believe this is simply because he's risky. There may be more there.
Lynch and Durcell are the most promising. Delafield-Chapin may suit your ideals, but she's going to be useless to us in office. I won't even waste more words on Ballo. We have enough time to rally support around one of our chosen candidates.
Let's not be idiots about it.
Edit: Since I realize I overlooked the most important detail in my presumption that you all had eyes and ears, these four individuals are running for governor of New Amsterdam.

The creatures are using the gates to move.
I've closed the New Amsterdam gate for now, but that's only one city cut off from a sudden influx. The others will still be caught unawares, their efforts undone with no clear reason to why.
Any relic can reopen the New Amsterdam gate. I propose we organize ourselves and do so. Pass through the gate to another city, close the gate upon our arrival, and assist the local efforts to squash the insects there before making our way back. Obviously, someone will need to close the New Amsterdam gate behind us.

If people have those glowing relics we've talked about before, keep them on you. They seem to be able to resist whatever's infecting people. It's not foolproof but I've seen it myself.
Does anyone seem to know where they're like actively coming from? They just seem to be coming with no stop and in all the cities. If we could find the source that would be helpful. Has anyone followed the rat-mole people in their tunnels?

My presence in acting as in your aid has been detected. I should have expected as much, in hindsight. The probability of my escape is slim: 0.005612%. Not much, but it is possible.

He's non-responsive to attempts to interact with him throughout and wouldn't previously have been replying to any attempts to contact him via the network either.

i'm currently within new amsterdam surrounded by a whole lot of people who look to be in a state of suspended animation. it might have something to do with the simulation i just woke up from. Those of you who went to the ruins in New Cairo, New Oslo, New Rio de Janeiro, and Mount Everest — what did you find there?
I'm interested in the history of the blue light in this world. Obviously these sites were designed to utilitize it in a fashion, to activate the gates. I'll be going out to explore it myself before long. I'd like to know what we already know.
It's alright if you haven't drawn any conclusions. Descriptions of the artifacts you've seen, anything you know about the history of those sites in this world. Anything could be important.
And it could spare me from more time spent digging around in the dirt.
