[ he once said he felt no need to commemorate the displaced and there is an element of broom eating here, but still yusuf presses on because this is wider than the displaced themselves. ]I'm looking for artists amongst us, specifically visual artists at the moment but I'm looking into an acoustic guitar so keep that on the back burner.
I'm painting a mural, different scenes of humanity helping each other in the wake of everything we and they have lived through lately. We are all from different places and from different lived experiences, but art is a form of communication that can translate experiences across time and space. [ there is an attachment which opens into the beautifully sketched rough draft of a mural that spans at least five buildings. along with quotes like "they cannot see that we must lay one brick at a time, take one step at a time - dorothy day" and "but judgment shall be revealed as water, and justice as a mighty torrent" and a number of the sentiments from his aerie posters ("while i breathe, i hope", "we cannot be caged"), the mural is primarily scenes of people helping people: people bringing food to those in need, medics giving care, no pasaran! above a painting of a couple standing in front of their two children, images of people rebuilding homes and planting gardens. he is clearly trying to communicate a sense of ruthlessly hopeful community.
(there's a note at the bottom that simply reads: "guillotine?") ]My own experiences here are limited to the recent past and I would appreciate any input on moments of community and kindness people think should be included. The mural can stand as a repository for New Amsterdam's collective memory. Everything makes broth.
I'm starting tomorrow night and will continue until I feel like it is completed or my husband collects me from jail. BYOB and paint brushes.[ the plot engagement for this mural is HERE and contains relevant infomation to those who choose to team up for this art extravaganza, so give it a peek please. the actual act of painting will be handwaved but run with it my babies. ]

[Okay so he sucks at staying away from the network, but this is important, hopefully not even slightly controversial, and short.]With all the talk of training powers in dreams, how the Aerie is (or was) connected to this reality, and so on, I was wondering something. Has anyone who had powers in the Aerie tried using them here?[There is definitely no reason he's asking this question other than curiosity. Absolutely none.]

The hospitals are severely understaffed at the moment. Anyone who can lend a hand, with or without medical training, meet me.[ attached: location ping to a hospital. ]My medical training was decades old even before I woke up in the future. More up to date knowledge would be good, but I can put people to work saving lives regardless.

Hey, all.
Brought to you by my going home a spell and returning here just about a decade later by my reckoning — what amenities would you say you miss most from home?
Now, for my part. I ain't a man of violence, but if I ever meet the fella or dame that outlawed smoking here I'd sure give them a stern piece of my mind.
For the newcomers, pleasure to meet y'all. If you're still in the process of getting settled, I'm happy to swing by to help get you situated.

Hey everyone. Before we get started, yes, my name matches with @robert.plant. We're brothers. I wanted to get that out of the way.
I just saw the message about who we are, and there's the part about how our powers are explained by some as being from the grace of a god, if you will. We have no real way of proving that. Aside from the ruins, that is, at least from what I've dug up. But the ruins don't have any links through searches, right? If you run an image search, you come up empty. I'm guessing this is leading to some dead ends, so I wanted to posit some questions for us today.
The big one being: why? How often are things lost to history?
Well, for one thing: pretty often. There wasn't as much written record until the mid-medieval period, I'm talking around the 12th century. And then it took humanity in my world until the early 21st century to really start digitizing what already existed. That meant going into the Vatican in a lot of ways, as well as hitting monasteries throughout Europe. And those are the ones that managed to make it. A lot got destroyed in WWI and WWII.
That's with just two World Wars. This world has had three. So, that's factor number one. Three World Wars. Things got destroyed, even if there was a push within humanities to get things digitized.
So, the next question. How did these people in New Amsterdam start worshipping us if there's a whole lot of information lost to history? From what I've gathered, these people got their information from a figure. But he had to get his information from somewhere, right? There are records that tie into what they're saying, things that only ... we could access. Do I have that right?
What I'm getting as is: there might be a private record somewhere out there about us. Not digitized. Hell, maybe even purposely not digitized. Someone didn't want this out there.
Back home, my brother and I—we're a part of a secret society. Or what was once one. We're legacies, late to the game. But we came to find out we had a bunker full of information waiting for us. Lots of that could've helped us. And there were chapters around the world, too. Mainly in Europe, all to keep some things in check.
What I'm trying to say is—I wouldn't be surprised if there was something like that here, but we haven't figured out the right place to look. Maybe that goes without saying, but I wanted to put it out there.
And if you have experience with this stuff, too? Let us know. It could give us some hints on where to get started here.
Thanks.

Hi everyone! I'm Glimmer. I've been here for about three months now. It's been weird! But the connections and friendships I've started to make with the rest of you have been really helpful for getting me through some really rough times. That got me thinking about our little community of Displaced people and how we're all kind of in this together. I realized I don't know a lot of you, which is fine!
I would like to know more of you though. So, I was thinking about trying to organize a kind of community building event. Something to help people feel more settled or welcome. Even if being here sucks and is awful we've got each other, right?
So how about we have a group dinner or other meal. A fellowship meal. Everyone makes or brings something to share with everyone else, especially if it's a recipe from back home. We can share food and our stories and get to know each other. Find ways to connect with each other. I can't really host it because, uh. My apartment is tiny but we could use the safehouse dining space. Or if someone has access to a bigger space they're willing to share, that would be great too!
Obviously it's not going to be something everyone wants to participate in, and I'm not going to try and convince anyone that they should if they really don't want to. I just want to try and make the best of the situation we're in and get to know more of you. If it works, maybe we can make it a thing every couple of weeks or once a month or something?
Let me know what you think! ✨

Why do you think we are here? And what do you plan to do with your time here?[ it's something that's been on his mind. he's read the arrival guide. he's read about existing powers disappearing and new powers. he's read about this world —the climate crisis, the wars, the inequality, morningstar's mission.
it is enough to make him wonder. are they here for a reason? to do good, to help — he has long believed that the reason why he and the others were functionally immortal. now, they are here instead. all of them, together. perhaps this, too, is something that is meant to be. like destiny. ]I am also curious about these powers. How did you discover yours and what is it? If you do not mind sharing.
I don't know yet what mine is.

What do people do for hobbies around here? Aside from volunteering for medical torture.
Has Victorian flower languages come back in style yet? Bookbinding and leathercraft seems obsolete by now, but what about backgammon or cards. I once lost a game of trappola to the Duchess of Ferrara, she was shark. Scrabble? Does that work with the translator? Pomme de terre is about twice as many points as potato. [ please enjoy that this translates to "potato is about twice as many points as potato" unless you also speak french.
anyway joe is bored come talk to him ]Who wants to bring fencing back in fashion?
