i have been thinking

we ought to get ourselves to the northern continent of the americas

[[ooc: HI this is Thor putting out there the idea of getting to North America. This was first raised in an ooc discussion post, but it's good to get characters talking about the idea and figuring out how/if people who want to can help the effort.

Please use this network post for group discussion, I'm not planning to have Thor respond to everyone! Contribute your characters ideas for getting there and how etc. Just because Thor wants to take a boat doesn't mean it's the best idea! (see the plot engagement thread for the mods' thoughts on what might work best)

Basically, if we can get a few of the displaced to the shores of NA, another gate can be set up to allow everyone else to go if they want to explore and find stuff out.

Yay!!!!]]

[ he once said he felt no need to commemorate the displaced and there is an element of broom eating here, but still yusuf presses on because this is wider than the displaced themselves. ]

I'm looking for artists amongst us, specifically visual artists at the moment but I'm looking into an acoustic guitar so keep that on the back burner.

I'm painting a mural, different scenes of humanity helping each other in the wake of everything we and they have lived through lately. We are all from different places and from different lived experiences, but art is a form of communication that can translate experiences across time and space.

[ there is an attachment which opens into the beautifully sketched rough draft of a mural that spans at least five buildings. along with quotes like "they cannot see that we must lay one brick at a time, take one step at a time - dorothy day" and "but judgment shall be revealed as water, and justice as a mighty torrent" and a number of the sentiments from his aerie posters ("while i breathe, i hope", "we cannot be caged"), the mural is primarily scenes of people helping people: people bringing food to those in need, medics giving care, no pasaran! above a painting of a couple standing in front of their two children, images of people rebuilding homes and planting gardens. he is clearly trying to communicate a sense of ruthlessly hopeful community.

(there's a note at the bottom that simply reads: "guillotine?") ]

My own experiences here are limited to the recent past and I would appreciate any input on moments of community and kindness people think should be included. The mural can stand as a repository for New Amsterdam's collective memory. Everything makes broth.

I'm starting tomorrow night and will continue until I feel like it is completed or my husband collects me from jail. BYOB and paint brushes.

[ the plot engagement for this mural is HERE and contains relevant infomation to those who choose to team up for this art extravaganza, so give it a peek please. the actual act of painting will be handwaved but run with it my babies. ]

Hey guys

I know the plants and wildlife really fucked with the structural integrity of a lot of buildings while we were gone. If any of you have any damage to your home that needs repaired, I can help with that really easily. Doesn't have to just be like walls and floors, I can also fix broken windows and appliances, stuff like that.

Just let me know.

I am going to pistol whip the next one of you jackdaws that so much as breathes about the moon.

Need I remind y'all that the entire population of the planet was just treated as harshly as the rest of us, with one Hell of a lot less context? Whatever else is going on, there are folks that are going to need our support way more than the lot of us need answers. We're in a unique position to help them and it's a Hell of a lot less disgraceful than whatever y'all think you're accomplishing by squabbling with each other.

The newest batch of Displaced are landing in New Tokyo. I'm going there tomorrow to start helping out with anyone returning from the Aerie so their arrival ain't marred by half so much chaos as all that. If you're of a mind to help, be at the gate at 0600.

If you have nothing useful or constructive to say, keep your goddamn thoughts, opinions and otherwise to yourself. I ain't got a lick of patience for any bullshit right now.

Hicks out.

[He was so not planning to make a post any time soon, but this is all a mess so whatever.]

First off, to the people who have newly arrived, hello. Waking up in another world isn't exactly the easiest thing to deal with, and you've arrived at an even more tumultuous time than usual, but I have some resources for you that might help a little; you might've already found them, but here are the welcome guide and the information compendium.

I need to update the latter with everything that just went down, but the short version is that everyone on Earth was--or still is--in another world, or reality, or something. They're only returning upon death, which may help explain why everyone seems particularly difficult, if you've been reading the network. If you have questions about it all I can try to help, but I was one of the earliest to return so I'm missing some pieces.

[Just don't ask him about anything other than the general situation, he doesn't know any of the cool secret lore. Got murdered too fast and all that. But shifting subjects--]

You may have also noticed some of the discussions about the moon, and how those on Earth could get back and forth; one of those potential methods, which would be long term, would involve one of you who just arrived doing those of us stuck on Earth a favor. If you're interested, please let me know.

[And lastly, but also very importantly--]

As for Displaced who are returning from the Aerie, I think Red Wings is being set up as a meeting place as usual, though be careful traveling through the city. Most importantly, though, try to check in on each other, and try to be patient with each other. We've all just been through a lot, and just because we're easy, safe targets for each other to take out our emotions on, that doesn't make it right and it doesn't actually help anyone. We're all in it together, and we can get through it.
