[ this is thor's first public network appearance since he went AWOL on the return from the Aerie. ]
So it's gods after all.
[ the urge to add an I told you all so rises in him, and he dislikes it. it's too much like the man he was in that alternate world. ]
Some of you are from worlds where your gods are active and known to you, and you to them. Some are from world where the gods are silent, if there are gods at all. Now that the gods of this world have been outed and worshipers are gathering, I wonder what they'll do.
[ it's less 'wonder' and more 'expect the worst' if he's honest with himself ]
Tell me: what is it you expect from them? Should great power be followed by great responsibility, as a friend of mine often says? Or does the obligation not follow, even when shrines are being erected in their name? Do you think it likely that they care as little for their worshipers as many of us do for ours?
That's my experience; indifference, arrogance... self-absorption. We gods care only for how our worshipers can give us strength or prestige or the feeling of power over others. We rarely see the good we can do. It's the mortals, those who suffer and die, who choose to think how they can help.
And we're rarely worthy of them.

@fillory.fanatic
I'm not sure I can put any assumptions on these gods though. We know Henries killed Blue. I'm guessing Gold is involved with the gold-eyed monsters. The other five are out there. Maybe they're not shitty.

but i cannot decide if their continued silence would be best, if larger groups of people decide to take up worship of them

@terry.mcginnis
personally, i think if you have power, whether it's a little or a lot, you should try to do something good with it
but people are fallible and so are gods, and realistically speaking, we'll probably wind up with some decent ones and some assholes
and just have to make the best of it and prep for the worst
but idc how much power someone has or what they call themselves, literally worshiping them is a stupid idea
no subject
though i disagree that worship is always a foolish idea

Having somebody to pray to, somebody listening
I just couldn't ever really get myself to believe in it
I mean I don't know you but if you actually give a fuck it sounds like you're ahead of the game

i have not always been ahead of the game. many gods are not.

@jon.snow
Thor had established himself as a man to be avoided, but not necessarily a man you could be seen to be avoiding. And Jon had been much closer as a Rook to the kind of man Thor had seemed to be than he is now, so his distaste for the Cardinal is greater when he sees with his own eyes, his own mind.
But if the Rook wasn’t quite Jon, if no one was quite themselves, it’s only fair to assume that the Cardinal might not have been Thor.]
There’s obligation whether or not you’re a god.
Who are you really, Thor?
no subject
[ getting to the core of him, to who he is deep in his bones... but he can start with the basics ]
in the world i have come from, i am the eldest son of odin allfather, the king of the asgardian gods. i am the god of thunder, the champion of asgard and one of the defenders of the planet earth
and in my youth i was not wholly unlike the man i was in that other universe.
[ too close to that man for comfort ]
@jai.kinvaio
( gods aren't new to him. he's met his share, so the — theatrics just make him roll his eyes because yeah, that fucking tracks. it's nice to know there's some narrative consistency to the universe. )
I'm gonna take you literally on the whole 'expectations' thing. The only thing I ever 'expect' from the divine is apathy and bullshit, frankly. They can get fucked to a man.
I'm still catching up on everything, but my first thought is they're probably going to be pretty pissed we've got Baby Blue on tap. If they can't turn us upside down and shake us until it falls out of our pockets, my guess is it's still in their best interests to get us to assimilate back into the happy rainbow pantheon somehow. Gold's probably gonna lead the charge on that one given the whole touchy-feely-kumbaya shit that happens whenever we fight the monsters.
As for where they're going to come down on the normal citizenry? Depends. How accountable do they hold this Henries guy for what happened to BB? And how likely are they to lump the normies in with his dumb ass? Because I don't give a fuck what they are, if they come at the civilians we'll have a problem.
( 'we' in this case is 'him and the gods' and not 'the displaced', since he isn't about to lump himself in with them. frankly, he's going to keep his distance from the whole lot, but the morningstar network is. fine. workable. whatever. it's superhero team-up trope #903840.
but he's got all the confidence of a nineteen year old superhero and none of the sense. it's a problem. )

It's best to rely on yourself than some power above; I never was a very religious man to begin with though so perhaps I'm biased.

it is not an uncommon attitude.

Whenever he did, he prayed not to seek strength for himself, but peace for others.
