Back on my own world, I raised armies of men to follow me. I killed the ones who were too weak or who refused to obey a woman, and provided the rest with armor, weapons, and ample food and supplies from the villages we raided. In return, they helped me be seen the way I wanted to be seen. But none of that will work here.

[That's not as big an admission as it might sound; both the armies and the raiding had been nothing but a means to an end, something that was useful at the time but that could easily be left behind if circumstances changed.]

The powers here have given me the gift of literacy, and I've read your guide for the newcomers, even though it clearly wasn't written for someone like me. You take it for granted that everybody coming here will already know about things like buses and guns and galaxies.

But I have decided that there is nothing for me here, I will fight for the cause to return to where we came from. If this is your cause as well, we will be allies.

[A word to the wise: Callisto is not always kind even to her allies.]

But if we end up in a position to make demands, then I want to go back to the land of the living, not to Tartarus. My work there isn't done.

Since the vast majority of you aren't used to being worshiped- you know, being erected shrines, answering prayers etc. etc.- I'd like to pose a philosophical quandary.

To those of you consider yourselves human: Are you still human? Or has time here, our arrival here, made us something else?

To those of us that aren't human, I'd like your thoughts as well. I'm in that bucket of course, and my perspective may not entirely align to the mortal crowd.
True or not, it's something to think about in the way that we conduct ourselves.

@bellamy
My name is Bellamy Blake. Most of you are probably wondering why we’re here, reliving a war that happened hundreds of years ago. Some of you have figured out this is a simulation, but there’s more to it than that.

@rey
The UNA has been lying to you, to everyone.

@bellamy
The AI Judas, who you might know as TEMPLAR, is the one who trapped us here and is running the simulation. You’ve all been told he was eliminated after the war, but that was a lie told by the UNA. They were hiding him the whole time, forcing him to support their soldiers.

@rey
Morningstar has footage that confirms the UNA kept Judas alive in their headquarters in New Beijing, in secret, to further their own ends.

@bellamy
Now he’s free, and forcing us to relive the war is his sick way of getting revenge for being enslaved by the UNA. He wants humanity to suffer, and he’ll do anything he can to break you.

The UNA could have prevented this. They could have destroyed him. Instead, they tortured and used him and drove him even more insane. Now we’re collateral damage.

And while we suffer for their crimes, where is the UNA? Why haven’t they saved us? They jump at the chance to enforce their control when people try to stand up to them, but where are they when things go to hell? Where were they when monsters were tearing apart New Amsterdam? Where were they when New Tokyo was being destroyed by a superstorm? What were they doing every time we were suffering and dying? Nothing.

@rey
Every time we’ve needed them, they’ve vanished. But Morningstar didn’t.

Morningstar has fought since the beginning to expose the UNA’s crimes. Believe me, I would know. My name is Rey Nolo. Some of you might remember me — some of you might have followed me on CoolTalk, or worked with me at Giles-Bell where I was an engineer before the UNA took me captive just like they did Judas. They held me in a prison facility outside of New Prague tortured me, too — along with dozens of other people who they captured last September — in an effort to gather intelligence on Morningstar.

They thought they could torture something out of me about Morningstar because I committed the crime of asking too many questions about what really happened to Kurt Fischer, and the truth is that Morningstar never killed him. The UNA lied about that just like they lied about Judas, all so that they could keep their power and stop Morningstar from helping the people who need it most, the people that the UNA forgets.

They will stop at nothing to keep their power, even if it means lying to their own people, even if it means turning their weapons on the people they’re meant to protect.

It was Morningstar who freed me from the UNA’s custody, just like it was Morningstar who provided aid to this city, and it’s Morningstar in here with us, ready to help fight back against Judas.

@bellamy
They’re the ones who step in while the UNA is ready to toss our dead on a pile and watch while our homes burn.

We don’t need the UNA. We don’t need to put up with their boots on our necks and our families being stolen and brainwashed. We’re strong enough on our own. We’ve survived this simulation without their help, and together we can break it, too.

We need your help. If we stand together, not just Morningstar but every citizen of New Amsterdam, we can tear down Judas’ simulation and take our city back. All we need to do is fight. Destroy the drones and the camps. Distract the bots. Rise up, and cause as much chaos as you can.

@rey
If we fight together, all of us, Judas doesn’t stand a chance.

@bellamy
None of us are alone in this. It’s time we stop relying on the UNA and start protecting each other.

[OOC: This is Rey and Bellamy's attempt to get the New Amsterdam citizens on board with Morningstar, per Jack's post! Both will be responding.]

Hey babes!

Remember last time I mentioned that sharing is caring? Well that's still true but instead of sharing skills and hobbies this time, I have information to share.

A few months ago while many of us were preparing to storm the castle in New Beijing, I happened to casually come into possession of two bags of IV fluid left behind from the arrivals. Yes, the same stuff that knocks us out and makes us do stuff even if we don't want to. Thanks to @caroline.forbes' awesome gala a couple weeks ago, I met and befriended my new lady mentor who happens to be a chemist at Giles Bell.

What a serendipitous coincidence!

Anyway! My new friend managed to break it down into two parts -
1. a super strong take down a herd of elephants or a dude named Cupid high on PCP on the subway sedative that weakens the nervous system (side note: does that make it a neurotoxin?)

2. ????????
Yeah, they ran into a wall on the compulsion drug (they don't know that's what it is). Apparently it's classified. Her boss tried, her boss' boss tried, no dice. It's a trade secret, that's fun.

Now she's a lil' curious though and they have questions I'm not completely sure how to answer. They're mostly where what who how and whens: where'd I get it, do I have more, do I know what it is and what is does, normal stuff like that.

I could tell the truth (New Beijing, yes, definitely yes) but I'm not entirely sure that is the right tact because it could open up even more questions. Let's brainstorm, babes.

xoxo Silena

to whom it may concern

good afternoon. my name is amy march and i am newly arrived so do bear with me for i have a great many questions. most pressingly i am in want of a job. i have never had one so im afraid i dont know what sort of job i ought to look for. i can sew cook clean and perform all necessary household tasks but i think i shall cry if i must play the part of a maid to another woman please pardon my pride. i am educated at least by the old measuring stick of where i came from but here there is so much more to be ignorant about. and i am accomplished in art but with materials so dear i cannot see how this might earn my bread so to speak. all of this is to say what jobs are available for young ladies?

furthermore i would like to leave the safe house as soon as my circumstances allow. however i have never lived on my own and the thought of doing so now is daunting. it seems such a mean and lonesome lot to accept. are there boarding houses in new amsterdam? you know rather like the safe house but much nicer and everyone has her own room but comes together for meals. i think this would be much pleasanter.

finally i am taking recommendations for dress shops. it is nearly impossible to find anything that suits. your consideration in these matters is very much appreciated thank you.

sincerely
amy c. march

you know, i had this whole list of questions that i was going to pose to the network, both for answers and to get people thinking. guess i'm going to have to do some back reading again before that happens

but i do have a couple things i'd really like answers to i'm going to throw out there now
1a. how many other people have mysteriously up and disappeared?
1b. how many people have come back?
1c. of the people who have come back, do any have any memory of the time they were gone?
2. do we have any way to trace the locations of people via the implant? not like a gps, more like a "this credit card was used here" sort of trace
3a. is there anyone who can take a blood sample and get it processed? idk if i was dosed with anything but i definitely do not remember leaving the apartment or coming back, and my chest is kinda burning a little, so i think i might have been
3b. anyone here have access to magic currently or had access to it in the past? i want to cover all my bases
4. who wants to help me figure out how many drinks it takes to get me soused later?

thanks

hello and welcome to today's installment of THERE'S SOMETHING FUCKED IN THE STATE OF NEW AMSTERDAM. i'm your host, @daisy.johnson, and today i'm bringing you a selection of hot takes from that super fun weekend of fire and brimstone we all had a while back.

remember that? everybody was hulk-out fighting? (you'll have to supply your own musical track, sorry. if you don't know the song, phone a friend.)

anyway, let's get to it.
#1: there's something super gross in your blood. or there was. if you remember @kylo.ren's hot goss about the hybrid death monsters a while back... well, fun fact: they were in you. some of you, anyway.

@leo.fitz: "the blood sample from the affected shares genetic markers with both the small monster carcasses and the residue from the fire, indicating strengthening correlation between the 41st Street fire and the subsequent outbreak."

#2: anybody who enjoyed a little hands-on exorcism also got the bonus gift of a shit ton of white blood cells being pulled off the bench to play defense. talk about one hell of a summer cold. but the monster goop in the blood? totally gone.

@katelin.phillips: "a high count of white blood cells like that is generally a sign of fighting off some viral infection."
now i don't know about you, but i have never had a cold that made me want to straight up murder a dude for cutting in line before, so this is raising some serious scooby and the gang mysteries on my end.

questions/thoughts:
a. how many of us went into the burning building? i can vouch for @marcos.diaz's strong dad vibes, but i didn't see anyone else.

b. how many of us were on futuristic pcp for a day? i was, but my roommates weren't. wondering if a is connected to b.

c. how bad was your hangover? not totally related, just want to know if i was the only one super craving a mcdouble and a bloody mary the next day.

Hi. I have some information that I think we should all know about. It's not pertaining to us getting taken. Not exactly. Or anything that's been going on. It's about our lives here, and what's happened to us.

First, I want everyone to know that there's nothing in your chests. I mean, there is, but it's not a physical item. Which ... makes sense. We don't have any scars there, at least not ones that may have been added since we showed up. The ones on the back of our heads? Still there. So, I don't think that's a coincidence. I don't know who found this out for us, or why they decided to go into digging into themselves on their own, but since you're presumably still out there: look up X-rays and MRIs. I'm not saying Morningstar has access to these things. Maybe they don't. But it's worth asking.

Second, and know that this is coming from a ... unique place: trust the hospitals here. They aren't out to get you. I work at one every day. I'm in their database, both as an employee and someone with access to medical records. For those of us with unique physiology, this doesn't apply, but from what I can tell, we're far from the majority. Now that we know for sure nothing is kicking around in our chests, we can safely go.

Where I came from before, it was hard. We didn't have any of the things available to us. If three people needed X-rays, we'd try to figure out who needed them most just in case. And that's before I left where I grew up—a space station, for those of you who are curious—and went down to the ground to help reestablish ourselves there.
[This is the prettiest way to put the horrible thing that happened to a hundred expendable kids. She is not going to tell anyone that. The rest of this little anecdote is meant to guilt people enough. That is her goal, and she doesn't really care if it's a transparent one.] Here, it's all available, and it's free. I'm not going to tell anyone to stop helping people, even if it gets you hurt. I am pleading with you to be smarter about it.

Health care here is free. All of it. Whether you have poor vision or you had an accident back home and you lost a limb, it's all free. You don't have to go through with any of it, but I feel that it's partly my responsibility to make all of this known to you.

If there's anyone here who needs to learn how to use a gun, I'd be willing to instruct.

Gaby wants it made clear that the guns are for missions only. If we get caught with them, they won't be able to get us out of that easily.

[ or at all, but bellamy doesn't think it's beneficial to be that blunt. ]

Kind of forward for a first date, I know, but do any of you have access to tech that can give a guy a clean brain scan? Looking for foreign organics, not the chip.

And has anyone tested the limits of the empathy bond? If not, consider this recruitment for some extreme handholding. Also forward, but I promise I'll buy you a drink as soon as I get my allowance.

Seeing as we're all officially freaks, I might have something to offer as a freak with experience. Long story short: I'm used to helping people in the responsible use of their powers. I'm also used to dealing with stronger and clearer manifestations of those powers so.

One on one. No charge. No guarantees.

yo

looking for some information on the lower bits of the cities and other shit

1: who has a decent amount of experience dealing with their bullcrap?
2: the "underground crimelords". anyone got names? physical descriptions? rumors? weird bits of tmi no one ever wanted to hear?
3. four shadiest bars/"gathering locations". you know exactly what i mean
4. narcotics. heard a lot of whispers about high death rates. anyone tested substances for an idea of what's in them? what bits of brain they effect? what's causing those deaths, or is it the standard respiratory issues?

5. where the hell did all the dogs go?

[ sometime after El's broadcast, this post shows up on the closed network - ]

Anyone who had the bright idea to throw themselves into a fire: find me when you're out, or contact me. You'll need medical attention.

I have some news. Information. Whoever's been doing all this stuff to you and then dumping you in our city, they weren't so tidy this time. One of the nurses actually stopped and saluted a camera. I'll let you decide how to feel about that, but on my side, I'd call it a dick move.

Anyway, it means I caught his face enough to run recog, finally. They definitely know, though, because I've been barely managing to chase his info down before it's wiped. Which is also why I don't think we have time to waste, so I'm not waiting on preparing an established agent.

I'm sending his address through now. Let me know if you're following it. I'll watch your back. Literally.

[ This is the accompanying post for the guided log! ]

Any way to get a map on this thing? Directions? If anyone's even seeing this.

Crap.

14 August 2018 @ 03:01 pm
Hi. I'm Clarke. You've probably seen me around. I've been helping a few of you with the injuries you got from the crash.

I'd like to take a few tests. The problem is that we don't have the means to pull it off right now, but if we can get some blood and urine, hopefully we can store it until the time comes that we can do the tests.

This might seem invasive, but this might be the best way to find out who did this to us. We were all on a pretty powerful drug. I'd like to identify that drug.

As an aside, does anyone have any guesses on how a society like this does art? My civilization wasn't this advanced, and I usually sketch in my downtime. And ... there's been a lot of that lately. There just isn't any paper around here. Or notes. Or anything like that, so it seems like a natural conclusion to try to figure out where and how that takes place. I'm assuming digital, but do our implants come into play?

Sorry, I got off into hypothesizing there.

Let me know if you're willing to pass along a sample.
