@leo.fitz ― 4 NOVEMBER 2511
Hi everyone,
If you don't already know me from the safehouse or the guide, I'm Fitz, one of the arrivals from the first transport. Prior to being here, I was a weapons and technology expert at SHIELD. Now, I’m a Pulsar engineer and, more importantly, an agent of Morningstar.
Recently, @ojiro.juniper approached me with the clever idea to kickstart some research and development efforts. We’re working on a way to bankroll this, and we’ll let you know how that develops in due course. For now, regardless of where discussions have evolved on the nature of organisation and leadership, we need your assistance with some big endeavors, both for the Displaced and Morningstar.
― Fitz
[ Check out here for more deets on the cache and here for some OOC knowledge of what Fitz is working on personally. He’ll share details of the latter strand of work with any individuals wanting to form a geek squad c: For #3, interested applicants can just private message Ojiro on this post! I'll be throwing together a plot engagement incorporating what characters ICly suggest in the coming weeks! ]

1. As some of you may know from the raids, Morningstar has a cache of unidentified weapons in its local store. We don’t know what they do, how they work, how dangerous they are, and so on, but I want to find out. So, let's discuss a plan: Any thoughts or ideas for how to approach the cache and suss everything out safely would be welcome.Cheers.
Reckon we’ll need at least one colour-coded spreadsheet. [ ***NOT JOKING ]
2. We could use a team of engineers for ad hoc projects. Presently, I’m exploring tech that could counter both the UNA and the creatures that keep popping up, as well as give us more freedom to act whenever trouble comes our way — all by my lonesome.
If this sounds like something you’re interested in, whether or not you have the technical know-how to get to work immediately, or you want to learn on the job, let me know. Can’t pay you in anything except snacks, but I can assure you they’ll be bug free.
3. Hi, this is Ojiro. In addition to the above, I also need an engineer for personal reasons, and I will pay you. I need someone with a lot of experience with tech as advanced as the standard here, preferably lots of hands-on engine work. Message me if you're interested!

[He might not have any degrees as a technicality- but he'd certainly been building his own gear and weaponry on his own for quite some time, and has helped Fitz with some of his things before. With a grander knowledge of the tech that exists here in the future, he figures he'd have a fair assessment of whether or not his assistance would actually help, or be more of a hindrance]

Any considerations on the strategy for approaching the cache?
My initial thoughts were to inventory, sorting through for identifiable items and categorising them by apparent type first. We call what we can, then test unknown multi-use items in pairs off-site, ideally with evasive or protective powers in the mix.
But that's just my gut instinct.

For the weapons, it would make sense to try and find a large open area to test them out, with a limited number of people involved to cut down on possible injuries and also attract less attention. I have a lot of experience with firearms specifically; I could help.
no subject
I'm with you completely.
Was thinking the abandoned buildings on the outskirts of town could be of good use. Some are in proximity of our safehouses, in the event of injuries. If we work Friday or Saturday nights, noise pollution could cover our arses in the city.
[ sorry too excited by 76's idea and expertise... ]
Reckon we need to divvy it up into single and multi-use items. [ i.e. grenades can't be tested. firearms can. ] Maybe send pairs — or trios to field test. How would you compose a team for that?

I could likely assist with transport, but we'd have to consider containment particularly if anything is explosive.
no subject
[ kylo's knowledgable and a keen set of eyes. ]
Ah, yes, you're a courier, aren't you? No doubt we'll need your help.
Reckon anything explosive or potentially explosive shouldn't be moved. We opt for analytical methods before field testing in the first instance, when it comes to high threat level items. I'm hoping to do a preliminary cataloguing project of least to most dangerous on a colour scale, green to red.
You raise a compelling point, however. I can ask after our containment resources [ with Morningstar ] seeing as we detonated the old safehouse.

@clarke.griffin
I see you're asking for engineers. It would be a good idea to see if you can dismantle these weapons and put them back together, figuring out what powers them. It may be that they can't be powered.
I know you're mindful of this, but we need to keep in mind the impact on this world.
As well as this fact: that cache may be a trap in and of itself, a means to wipe out Morningstar if they had gotten away with it at the time. We don't want to arm it and kill ourselves in the process.
no subject
Both Morningstar and the Displaced presently train off-site, and we won’t be testing anything noisier than firearms, so I believe we’re ready for the testing site stage, but we can confirm the relative safety of the locations first with scouting and noise testing.
I do agree with you on the rest. Our move should be to identify and categorise what we can, with disassembly and analysis our first port of call. Anything flagged as red for a known danger or unknown (and therefore dangerous) will need to be boxed and stored safely. [ The Carter way. ] Better we have it than someone else, but not better we set it off, as you’ve rightly pointed out.
Gotta be at least some booby traps in here, I reckon. You wouldn’t set a cache at the heart of a dummy operation, without that being the case, but it’s a mixed bag from a preliminary check. This tech could be an asset to us in our next encounter with the UNA or any other foe. We’ll better understand this world and how it fights, as well as be able to arm ourselves.

After that, it sounds like a place to dismantle and test weapons is something that should maybe be looked into. No idea where we could find a place like that, but...
In any case, you can put my name down as an engineer/mechanic with experience with this kind of tech interested in helping with whatever I can
@leo.fitz
[ good. they need more of that. hadn't she said she was an alien once, too? likely that she knows more advanced tech, as a result. ]
We should be able to dismantle and analyse tech at our safehouses. It's the testing that needs to be above ground, when we can't risk those spaces. We've got some keen eyes looking for sites, however, so we'll see what can be found. Should be able to test firearms, at any rate.
[ a beat, as he looks back through the network for more on kara. ]
