@leo.fitz ― 4 NOVEMBER 2511
Hi everyone,
If you don't already know me from the safehouse or the guide, I'm Fitz, one of the arrivals from the first transport. Prior to being here, I was a weapons and technology expert at SHIELD. Now, I’m a Pulsar engineer and, more importantly, an agent of Morningstar.
Recently, @ojiro.juniper approached me with the clever idea to kickstart some research and development efforts. We’re working on a way to bankroll this, and we’ll let you know how that develops in due course. For now, regardless of where discussions have evolved on the nature of organisation and leadership, we need your assistance with some big endeavors, both for the Displaced and Morningstar.
― Fitz
[ Check out here for more deets on the cache and here for some OOC knowledge of what Fitz is working on personally. He’ll share details of the latter strand of work with any individuals wanting to form a geek squad c: For #3, interested applicants can just private message Ojiro on this post! I'll be throwing together a plot engagement incorporating what characters ICly suggest in the coming weeks! ]

1. As some of you may know from the raids, Morningstar has a cache of unidentified weapons in its local store. We don’t know what they do, how they work, how dangerous they are, and so on, but I want to find out. So, let's discuss a plan: Any thoughts or ideas for how to approach the cache and suss everything out safely would be welcome.Cheers.
Reckon we’ll need at least one colour-coded spreadsheet. [ ***NOT JOKING ]
2. We could use a team of engineers for ad hoc projects. Presently, I’m exploring tech that could counter both the UNA and the creatures that keep popping up, as well as give us more freedom to act whenever trouble comes our way — all by my lonesome.
If this sounds like something you’re interested in, whether or not you have the technical know-how to get to work immediately, or you want to learn on the job, let me know. Can’t pay you in anything except snacks, but I can assure you they’ll be bug free.
3. Hi, this is Ojiro. In addition to the above, I also need an engineer for personal reasons, and I will pay you. I need someone with a lot of experience with tech as advanced as the standard here, preferably lots of hands-on engine work. Message me if you're interested!

Would you be willing to join a research phase and attempt to both identify weapons and spy any defects?
I'm not sure we'll be able to fully secure an area, but should any tech pass on to the field test phase, we do need comparatively safe sites scouted. The more keen eyes on this the better. And we'll most definitely need contain procedures and protocol drills for all teams, so please do let me know your thoughts.
At present, I'm inclined to bring defensive and evasive powers in for both the research and testing stages. After talking with Miller, we're currently looking at trios of a firearms operator, a defensive or evasive ability, and a researcher or observer for the testing phase. Do you think that would suit?

You've got any idea what we're working with based on the general level of tech around here? Or are we going in totally blind?

[ fitz doesn't know gabe well enough to take up the vetting off just yet, but perhaps in due course. ]
I do. Been here four months, and I've spent that time doing everything I can to play catch up on this century. Reckon I'm as close to a contemporary weapons expert as we'll get among the Displaced and local Morningstar operatives.
And Ojiro and I both got our hands on UNA weaponry before now. Personal project. Full disassembly and reassembly of firearms. Means we have a pretty good idea of their standard tech. Got a crack team behind this already, too, with a significant number familiar with tech equivalent or similar to that of this world and many working with local systems for months now as well.
I think we're as clear-sighted as we can be, without designing the weapons ourselves. It should be noted that a significant portion of it is likely defective or rigged to blow, so we'll assume every item could backfire and salvage what we can.
Ultimately, I'm confident we'll yield valuable intelligence and resources from the endeavour.

You won't find many guns on the street. Too obvious, in a surveillance state.
The UNA have advanced stuff. Abnormally powerful and piercing rounds. Quick to reload. Morningstar standard is an advanced handgun. Two settings, stun and kill.

Have a nose around the underground, and you just might find what you’re looking for.
