@kyna.medina
so everyone knows shit sucks right now
since i've been here i've seen a lot of talk about what we should do, but it seems like everyone has a different idea
some people want to start superhero teams and some people want to require training for everyone new who shows up
some of us want to go public, some don't, some people trust morningstar and some people think they're shady
some people are just saying "fuck it" and think we should worry about ourselves
you know, all that shit
so i guess i just wanted to crowdsource
get everyone's thoughts in one place or whatever
because it seems like fucked up shit keeps happening and since i got here, it's getting worse
this is probably going to start a whole argument about how much responsibility we even have when we've just been dragged here without a choice
or people saying no one should expect us to act as a group but
idk
here's your chance to be all opinionated
go

@james.barnes
There was a misunderstanding that we meant to turn everyone into soldiers. The goal was to teach them how to save their own lives in the event of a catastrophe.

double clarified, then
so you think there's going to be more shit like this too, right?

@ian.fowler
I know this is a hot-button topic for some people, but in my experience they've only ever done good.
They brought me in for a series of strategic detonations around the city, and they were incredibly cognizant of civilian safety.
They used it to liberate a prisoner held captive because his life proved the lies UNA was feeding to the general public.
Do I think they're perfect? No, nobody is. Not organizations, not PEOPLE. But they're doing the best with what they have. Even if they're making mistakes, at least they're stepping up. That's a hell of a lot better than nothing.
I wouldn't go so far as to say that the displaced owe them, I don't think placing an expectation on an entire group of people is ethical. If you swap out 'displaced' with any other label or subset of people and you can't say the same sentence without cringing, it's not the right thing to say.
I will say that society as a WHOLE - integrating the displaced into that group because like it or not we are citizens and this is now our world too - benefits from their existence. Society as a WHOLE should appreciate the work being done to help improve lives regardless of creed or origin. Likewise, worrying about only ourselves is selfish. We're one planet, and that planet is on the brink of an apocalypse.
I can tell you with firsthand fucking experience no politics are worth that.

i agree with you, though
i don't get how helping or manipulating us could be some kind of big secret weapon of theirs or something

@ziggy.stardust
haters just need to leave them to their fetish and stop kink shaming
for realsies tho
if this were a magic utopia where all we need to get along is good intentions, yeah, maybe all the displaced could be one big happy family fightin the man
some of us will want to, some wont
some'll only want to do it with the ones they trust
cant fault them for any of that either
the more important thing is probably making sure the ones that do want to jump in the ring know who to talk to and where to find someone to watch their back while they do
no subject
and what's your definition of jumping in the ring?
superhero stuff?

some of us had those dreams before the monsters attacked, right?
and maybe everything went to shit too quickly for us to do anything about it that time but
i don't know
i don't think it's fair for us to just say we don't belong here and keep being reactionary, i guess
i'm not sure what the best way to do that is yet
but morningstar feels like the best bet
@steve.rogers
We owe it to the people outside of this small group to pass on the warnings we've got in the past: dreams, visions, whatever else. There was pushback over whether anyone, Morningstar or other groups with clout, could even prepare for whatever was coming-- but I'm hoping the fast response they pulled off'll convince people that a day and a half of extra time'll be worth utilizing if we get it again.
And if the next time we get nightmares only amounts to a bad night's sleep? I'll be thankful about being wrong.

I agree.
We were aware of prophetic elements within the dreams hours after they occurred.
Dismissing a warning of that magnitude could be the end of us all, next time.

But we've crowdsourced a lot. It doesn't lead to solutions. Unless you've seen something that works yourself from this. For example: what Jason said. That doesn't help. That doesn't lead to solutions.

We can debate around it as much as we want--in the end it's all talk.
It's action that's important.
If I can leave this world better than what it was before, then that's what I'm going to do. I don't need anyone else to agree with me.
