Hello everyone,
Unless I’ve missed something in the past hour or so, it seems like our network hasn’t been compromised by whatever has caused this massive security failure. I have at least five messages in my inbox that I’m certain aren’t for me, but everything seems clean here.
I think, as the group of people with the (apparently) only properly functioning network (and various talents, in a manner of speaking), we’re obligated to use it to organize ourselves and assist. The entire city is facing more problems as a result of this breach than I’ve ever seen before from one event. If you’re not particularly interested in helping those that could be trapped in cars or victims of accidents right now, consider that the external temperature has been rising. I don’t know about everyone else, but I’m personally certain that once it gets around 55C I’m going to start dying.
The network has apparently been used before to coordinate teams of Displaced, let everyone know what’s needed and who to meet with, and I suggest we do it again. I’ll keep an eye on this and provide hotlinks to pertinent discussions, so anyone with particular skills or interests can volunteer themselves.
Stay safe everyone. Don’t spend too much time in the heat without decent protection, you can only help so much if you pass out in the middle of it.

[ discretion may be the better part of valor, but this is no time for being coy with what they can do. ]
you need anything while i'm out?

Or a lemonade. ]
Not me personally, but thank you. I do have a question, though: Have you heard anything about a solution for this virus? All our efforts may be temporary if that isn't resolved and I admit I know next to nothing about the nature of this particular beast. El mentioned your corporation is working on it.

if i had to guess, though: trying to isolate the virus to a closed network, if they can, and then cross-sectioning until they can replicate it well enough to work backwards. that's the only way to be sure you're going to get rid of all the traces of garbage it leaves behind.
it's going to take time. whatever hacktivist group is playing pretend at being a robot with a revenge mission did their research. i hate to say it, but i'm kind of impressed.

not to this level or anything, but i hit the pentagon and the kremlin with rising tide.
dawn's manifesto probably isn't the only readme file in this thing.

So this virus will run interference until human minds can catch up and cut it off at the pass. What would that mean for maintenance on the pyramid?
no subject
[ super unlikely, but. people are welcome to have false hope. ]
but it's more likely that their remote location required life support. and three minutes is more than enough time for someone determined to slip in through disabled firewalls to pull the plug if they wanted to.
taking out the maintenance staff would, in theory, lower the chances of anyone getting the pyramid back up and running in a timely manner.
if the goal here is to cripple the city until it's willing to pay through the nose for a solution, this is one hell of a way to do it.

Is there any way to trace the source?

here, there's just too much we don't know. hell, i'm still trying to figure out what's so interesting about crowns that we needed to be asked about them nine times.
but i'll try. i have a feeling jaqobis and i are going to be living in the office over the next few weeks.

We'll sort it out. This group seems to have a knack for that sort of thing. Which is likely precisely why DAWN singled us out.

would it have killed them to at least give us a fun operation name?

[ God knows how much time she's spent nitpicking over names for Morningstar projects with Fitz. She'd be lying if she said it was a complete waste. Some are quite good. ]
You'll let me know if you need any help? Beyond naming the operation. I leave that in your creative hands.
