I can heal as part of my power but the extent is unclear. Your partner is deeply opposed to this so I went around him :)

The good doctor is deeply opposed to a great many things that could further learning. It's one of his quirks.

I would be willing to allow you to test your powers but I cannot have marks remaining for obvious reasons. He's entirely too perceptive.

That seems particularly cruel for me to do to him considering he thinks this is immoral.

I believe humans say "what he does not know will not hurt him." Starfleet morals, those he sticks to, and Cardassian morals, those of my people, are very different.

It would be prudent to train healing abilities in our allies now, in a controlled setting, rather than waiting for when the ability is needed urgently. And as he is merely my associate and friend rather than partner in any traditional sense, he does not have any say over me or my actions.
