guess that depends on what your power turns out to be
you could find someone who definitely has a useful fighting power to back you up

if i know i've got backup doesn't that defeat the purpose

backup can make sure you don't die
they don't have to keep you from getting beaten up
that's still pretty motivating if you ask me
