@cecily.trevelyan
First day out into this fascinating new world of yours.
If anyone is so inclined, I would love a little tour. Some of your favorite spots, any areas of interest, the standard. Perhaps some off-line information sharing.
I would, of course, owe that person a favor. The pleasure of company is an added bonus.
Thank you in advance.

@cassian.andor
There is a lot to do here, depending on your area of interest.

My areas of interest primarily include finding a way back home, and barring that... Aspects of planning and diplomacy, archery, and fine wine, to start.

Weaponry in general is a lot harder to come by, as they do not seem to trust the regular people with arms. But there are fighting rings, if that is also your sort of thing.

[ That's not...at all true, but hopefully the sarcasm comes through even over text. ]
It isn't, but if that's the only way we can defend ourselves and fight, then I suppose I should learn.
They really do believe in restrictions, don't they? Almost as if we're prisoners or something like that.

[ he caught it, he is very good at reading between lines. ]
It is not the only way. Do you already have any combat experience? Knives and smaller short range weapons are easy to hide, and @daisy.johnson has a power that enables her to create us weapons.
I find the overall government structure much more dystopian than it appears, yes.
no subject
I have experience using knives in close combat, yes. That's good to know.
Is that person amenable to sharing their power with anyone who asks?
I'm not sure I have much to offer in return. At least, not currently.
I'm not sure what you mean by "dystopian," if you'd be patient enough to provide a little more detail.

Corrupt, inadequate. Perhaps functional and logical on the outside, but tend to be more authoritarian and dehumanizing than they wish to be perceived.

I assume she can offer a bit of direction on that front?
I see. Wasn't familiar with the term, but I know the feeling.
Our Orlesian Empire is a bit of the same.
no subject
I find nothing that makes use of the word "Empire" is good. Is that where you are from?
no subject
Orlais is a part of it. Just one country among many.
We pick on them for being a bit flouncy, but the truth is that many of our world's powers are less than perfect.
I imagine it's that way in all worlds.

A lack of authoritarianism helps too.

They all recently pointed fingers at our organization and held a grand council to assess whether or not we could continue to operate right after we saved the bloody world. And while assassins bent on starting a war snuck across their borders.
It's all brilliant.

I assume you they started seeing you as a threat? That tends to be a standard reaction.

There are some tolerable few who have power more behind the scenes, but none as figureheads.
[ Except Cassandra, made Divine, but she's trying to keep it under wraps that she and the Casandra in the bunker aren't the same. ]
I believe they thought we might, I don't know, conquer the entire known world.
I can say confidently there is little I want LESS than to have the responsibility of the whole world in my hands. They needn't have worried.

[ he didn't even like the republic, despite the few senators remaining who really were trying. who continue to try, but they were the ones who didn't take advantage of their positions. ]
I imagine you could have told them to their face and they would disbelieve you. It is not what they would do, so they cannot fathom it otherwise.
no subject
I did say it to their faces, but you're right in that it was a fairly useless gesture.
I appreciate the emotional support on this matter, though.

[ he usually doesn't talk up his own logic, but it's the nature of the conversation flow; he still hasn't quite mastered just being himself as much as he's mastered being sensible. ]
Power corrupts, and arguably, stupefies.
no subject
Apparently it's just a potential that we're all able to live up to with equal opportunity.
