Hello, everyone. There are a lot of new faces around the safe house so I'm going to try to make sure to catch you up as best I can. Insomniac Ball, a city organizer and apparent leader of the religious group that have painted shrines to us throughout the city since we fought those creatures, gave us the locations to something he called “gates.” ([Bad username or site: Loki @ Odinson] and I posted more about this group HERE if you want more information.) Ball claims the gates will prove something about the blue light in our chests, tell us why his people have been worshipping us.

Whether that's true or not, it seems safe to say that discovering what's there will give us more information on what was done to us, how it works, and maybe even how it's limiting the powers some of us used to have access to.

That's why Wei and I have been working on a way to get to them, and we want everyone together on it. The two most promising locations are Mt. Everest and New Oslo.

Hi, I'm "Wei"! That's me, surprise! My countrymen and I spent our time in New Beijing looking into how to get to and from Mt. Everest without setting off alarms, and we think we're at least able to offer you all some idea of what the trek to the gate will look like.

I don't suggest that anybody who isn't extremely physically fit undertake the journey to Mt. Everest - a lot of people have died in the past on that climb in the past. That doesn't mean we don't need your help. Those going to Mt. Everest will travel under the disguise of eco-tourists creating art, music and more on social media to bring attention to the new, green wonders of the world and the need to preserve and maintain them. If you have connections that will support our disguise or get us a good boat that won't sink, we'd be happy for them.

Yes, I said boat! Travel after arrival to New Beijing will be along the rivers by boat, so this is an extended trip - make sure your jobs are flexible if you want to come. The boat is the cheapest option for this trip in particular. Knowing that, we could really use people good at fundraising and awareness-raising for the other two trips we'll need to go on. Even if you're not interested in making the physical journey, your help and ideas would be appreciated.

Right, because we’d like to do this again with the other gates once we know what’s waiting at these.

Those who aren’t able to make the trek up Everest can go to the New Oslo location under a different banner. The city is easily accessible by train. For Everest, it sounds like we’ll need food, camping and climbing supplies, and maybe even oxygen tanks in addition to the train tickets. It’ll be a long hike.

I’d like us to get moving in the next couple of weeks. If you can help, or if you want to make the trip with us, we should start making arrangements now.

I know I'm new, but I would be interested in joining the group headed to Mt. Everest. I've been trained in outdoor survival, including in high altitudes and cold weather conditions, and first aid.

In theory, the climb could be accomplished without it but if even seasoned climbers baulk at it we shouldn't be taking any undue risks.

I want this to be as legitimate as possible, not just to protect us, but to bring awareness to the splendors of the world. If you want, I'm sure we could "negotiate exclusive rights" and everything.

It IS a protected location. There is likely some manner of encampment or facility at the foot of it that we'll have to stop at.

I will be more use in New Oslo, I believe. But for all those who intent to climb Everest, and anyone else interested, I am offering a first aid course. Between the altitude, the temperatures, and the general demands of climbing, I'm afraid it'll be a bandaid for a concussion, but you never know.

Additionally, if you are able to acquire resources for the trip ( ie. medical supplies, climbing equipment, extreme-weather clothing and gear, etc. ), now would be the time to inform us. I don't need to know your particular skill sets and abilities, I'm trusting you to know your strengths and limitations.

Last thing, too! For my general curiosity, rather than anything else: since we're going as "eco-tourists" - that is, environmentally-focused travelers - what's your cover story! I'm going to be making music about the splendors of the world! ヽ( ★ω★)ノ♬♬

That'll be the limiting factor. New Oslo is in the midst of a city, so showing off what we can do isn't a great plan. We'd want fewer there probably, for subtlety, right?

Wei and his friends have been doing all kinds of research on how to get us out there from New Beijing, but I don't think we have anyone who's actually climbed around there.
You're new, right? We talked before. If you need someone to get your train ticket, I'll take care of it.

If you are traveling to Everest, please become familiar with the below information.

To prevent avalanches:

• Do not approach overhangs.
• Do not approach rounded slopes.
• Do not approach sparse tree lines, tree lines with absence of growth upon one side, or boulders.
• Do not approach narrow corridors, sheer faces, or depressions.
• Do not approach snow that is freshly disturbed by wind.
• Do not approach slopes that exceed 30 degrees.
• Do not continue if the snow audibly settles beneath you.
• Do not continue if snow begins to roll down the slope.
• Do not approach hoarfrost.
• Do not continue if the snow fissures beneath you.
• Do not continue if your steps sound "hollow."

Snow is commonly unstable within these areas. Avalanches are likely to occur if snow is disturbed.

For safest climbing:

• In the winter, it is wisest to climb southern slopes.
• Climb in low valleys without high slopes, in dense forest with even growth, or upon hilltops.
• Ask for myself or another familiar with testing snows if a route is safe to cross.
• If you cannot find myself or another, cross areas of uncertainty one at a time. It is easier to rescue others this way.
• Those who cross first should be dressed appropriately and fully.

Of further note:

• Should you become ill at higher elevations, you cannot continue.
• If you cannot become acclimated to higher elevations after rest, you cannot continue.
• If you become injured or unable to continue at higher elevations, it is unlikely that most can retrieve you safely.
• Pack only essentials. Where air is thin, excess weight will endanger you.
• Check others often for sickness or fatigue.
• Do not assume those with experience are not susceptible.

I will be available as needed before the climb. Those who may be able stabilize or shift snows are encouraged to assist.
