Hello you lot. I know people might still be pissed about what went down, so ignore if you don't want an update, however.

So Riverstone sent us medical reports but since I don't know what any of it means, if someone with modern/medical know-how wants to look and explain shite, I'll send it to you. These are the summaries I think I understood:

Our powers don't seem to be biological? So when we used them they didn't show any biological changes? I think? Don't know what that means.

I agreed to do a dream study to try and figure out why I keep showing up in your dreams, they said strangely our brains appear completely awake when we're doing it. No wonder I'm bloody tired.

Also can someone who's been around for a bit explain what the Mariana Trench was?

To clarify, I wasn't being literal. I thought that might've been obvious. There's no way in hell I personally am going to learn it, what I mean is I look forward to humanity learning it and me studying what we find collectively.

You're missing a critical piece of information in your callous disregard of magic.

This world may accept the existence of magic, and prove that it's real.

I'm not saying we disregard it. I'm saying we understand it as magic now because we don't know enough about it. What we call it is irrelevant. The phenomenon is real, I'm not denying that.

What you don't understand is that magic is not simply a lack of understanding. I've seen science applied to supernatural events. But the events themselves were still supernatural in nature. You can combine the two, but you have to accept the true nature of one thing to approach the other.

Right now, you're implying that magic is an explanation for the ignorant.

Until we know everything about magic, by technical definition we don't fully understand it. I don't have to understand it to acknowledge it as a real thing, or believe there's a quantifiable mathematical structure behind it. As long as it operates within a predictable set of rules then those rules can be explored and better understood.

I'm implying magic is what we call the phenomenon we're seeing, but that the way we look at magic might one day not be as mystified as the word itself implies.

You realize it's only mystified by your definition? Your definition doesn't determine the definition the rest of us use.

Fair enough. Let me rephrase:

The way we look at magic might one day not be with the same mystified feeling many magic-less universes have about the word.

Then perhaps you should respect those who come from worlds with both magic and science dealing with the existence of magic.

I do respect it. You're being inaccurately reductive of the standpoint I've been reaffirming this entire time:

I acknowledge that what we're seeing as magic is real. That magic is real across universes. That magic and lore are valid potential answers and tools to our situation. I also believe that there's a science behind magic that I find fascinating and would love to one day study to better understand it. I don't see that it's all that different from some of the greater mysteries of the multiverse, things that we're slowly coming to learn about as a species. Explaining magic, explaining the origin of the universe, explaining what makes all of us up and knits the universe together, there's a tremendous amount of learning we can do.

Wanting to quantify these things, to understand the laws and physics of them, does not invalidate its existence.

It feels like you're incapable of accepting a multi-faceted standpoint.

It's not a failure to see a multi-faceted standpoint. It's where I can see you trying to come out the righteous victor, the one who's been saying the reasonable perspective the entire time. What you say before and after matters.

I don't understand where you're getting that at all. I'm not competing with anybody. I'm just trying to continue saying what I've been saying without being misconstrued, and defending myself when I am.

I'm certain you'll argue that this is immaturity, but I can see your character for what it is. It's unfortunate that you can't do the same.
