Riverstone is interested in cooperating with the Displaced to learn more about the people who brought us here. They figured out who I was when I put in the paperwork to change my name back. Apparently, I'm still on the UN's most wanted list, but someone prevented the UN from acting to bring me into custody. 

I don't know who, and neither does Riverstone — in fact, they asked me about it.

But they know that I'm one of the Displaced, which actually explains a few things. I've been working for Riverstone for months. After I went to Everest, I was gone a bit longer than the rest of us, well beyond El's coverage. They gave me back my job anyway. I don't think this was news to them. If you ask me, that's a sign they're not out to get us, but I realize not everyone will agree there.

Now they want to talk to all of us, or as many of us as are interested. Riverstone is offering to pay travel expenses in New Beijing for one week for anyone who wants to undergo observation and testing of their power, and who's willing to answer some questions. I know that sounds scary. I know scary. The UNA had me in custody for some time, running "tests." But Riverstone claims that what they're offering is different, that we'll preview everything first.

Before you decide, I should mention ... they think they might know something about who's been dropping us off. In return for our cooperation, they're willing to exchange that information. 

I'm not telling anyone what to do, and no one else should try to do that either. But if follow (this) link, you can register your information with the Riverstone employees in charge of this, and they'll reach out to you to arrange the trip.

Suspicious? Hiding their true intentions? You know like, "hiding in the shade" kinda shady, that's what the word means.

I think every corporation on Earth is 'shady.'

I mean for sure, and that goes back to my own world, and probably every other world to be honest.

I meant more in the "shady as in trying to exploit us for our powers and maybe try world domination" kind of shady, or just "willing to do harm for profit" kind of shady.

Probably not any more than the others. I think they're all involved with the government, which has sort of already dominated the world.

Then I don't think I can trust them, not just yet. Things feel too screwed over already, I feel like we should be trying to gain some power and autonomy to have a better position to negotiate with other powers.

Right now we're pretty much at the mercy of whoever wants to use us.

I don't know if we'll ever be organized enough to change that.

Oh yeah, we're really too different.

So maybe not all of us, but at least some. I don't know, it's not like I want to leave people behind, but there's only so much you can do on your own.

I don't know, this feels like something more intelligent than me should be saying.

I know the feeling.

I mean that I feel pretty out of my depth with some of this. Some people seem to be good at strategizing and looking at all the angles, but all I can do is go with my gut.

Same here, I was getting used to be around people that actually had a plan back home, I was just trying to keep up to be honest.

So who do we pester about this? Clarke? She looks like she's been taking care of things even before coming here. Strange? I don't really know everyone yet.

That depends who you trust.

We could ask Strange. He's careful, but not too careful that he isn't willing to take a risk when it could benefit us. He proved that in the simulation.

Akechi thinks he's good at all of this stuff, and Ren seems to believe him ... Tsera seems to have some good ideas.

Wasn't around for that, but yeah, I guess we're all liable to do something risky anyway.

Don't know them but I can tell you're not too fond of this Akechi fellow.

Don't you have when people are like that? Reminds me of a friend I made back home. She tried to kill me a few times, granted, but she isn't such a bad person.

I thought asking everyone to let people make their own decisions would head it off. Guess I was naive.

People are butting heads, aren't they?

I mean, not everyone was going to agree. If we could talk it out it would be best if we could like, make a group of people that want to try it and have them keep us updated or something. You know, more organized.

Instead, everyone just wants to tell people that they can't.

Kinda makes me want to step and say listen fuckers, we're making a list and we're checking it twice.

But nobody is going to listen to me.

Well, I'm a nobody.

Still, maybe someone else with mroe time around should do it.

Or maybe I don't want to be responsible.

It's fine if you don't want to be responsible, as long as it's not because you don't believe you're worth listening to. You are.

You make it sound so easy. Are you some big time heroine back in your world?

Not at all.
