Riverstone is interested in cooperating with the Displaced to learn more about the people who brought us here. They figured out who I was when I put in the paperwork to change my name back. Apparently, I'm still on the UN's most wanted list, but someone prevented the UN from acting to bring me into custody.

I don't know who, and neither does Riverstone — in fact, they asked me about it.

But they know that I'm one of the Displaced, which actually explains a few things. I've been working for Riverstone for months. After I went to Everest, I was gone a bit longer than the rest of us, well beyond El's coverage. They gave me back my job anyway. I don't think this was news to them. If you ask me, that's a sign they're not out to get us, but I realize not everyone will agree there.

Now they want to talk to all of us, or as many of us as are interested. Riverstone is offering to pay travel expenses in New Beijing for one week for anyone who wants to undergo observation and testing of their power, and who's willing to answer some questions. I know that sounds scary. I know scary. The UNA had me in custody for some time, running "tests." But Riverstone claims that what they're offering is different, that we'll preview everything first.

Before you decide, I should mention ... they think they might know something about who's been dropping us off. In return for our cooperation, they're willing to exchange that information.

I'm not telling anyone what to do, and no one else should try to do that either. But if follow (this) link, you can register your information with the Riverstone employees in charge of this, and they'll reach out to you to arrange the trip.

I read the rest of your post too. I don't know, Rey. I mean on one hand they might not be as likely to fuck with us, because now we're relatively known and may even be public. So if something were to happen to you as part of the testing, they'd get an army on top of them and I think they know that. But testing makes me anxious for you.

And it's not just open to me.

But they're offering the people who dropped us off. We can't just write that off.

They're claiming that. I feel like they should offer you a little more before you agree to be a test subject. Something tangible that proves good faith rather than the benefit of the doubt.

They proved it by finding me, didn't they? They seem to know plenty.

I doubt they're the only people who have guesses about some of our identities. It's not like we were subtle in the simulation or in the monster fight.

I agree we should have a rescue team ready just in case something goes wrong.

Does that mean you're going in or you're on the rescue team?

Neither. I would love to be on the latter but I'm not any good that way. I can't fight.

If someone wants to bring a mirror or reflected glass in with them, I might be able to hear everything that happens though on my end and you can ask for a rescue.

That shouldn't be too hard to manage, really. I mean, there's jewelry that's reflective, right?

Yeah I'd have to practice with it first, I've mostly used mirrors and glass, but maybe. It could be a sneaky way to get that information out to everyone and be ready for a rescue team when it's needed. I've been practicing with control and projection lately.

It sounds like at least one of us has decided to go, so maybe you should work with /@tsera.vel to make sure a rescue team is ready.

I still have an uneasy feeling about this, Rey. I'd rather we try to get more information out of them first, so they have to do more than just jazz hands at us.

It doesn't seem like we have a lot to negotiate with. We'd need people to actually be willing first.

But maybe that's how they could show good faith. Give us some information to entice us to join, rather than hint at it.

It might be too late to barter, if people are already signing up.

They might not have filled out the form yet, only agreed they want to do it, ask them to pause and maybe see if there's time to negotiate. They're a company, they're used to negotiation.

I'll try reaching back out.

Say that people are considering it but are hesitant, and would feel better if they had concrete information to share. Say it's a lot of risk on our part for a big question mark. If they're good business people which I'm sure they are, they'll get the tactic.

It's okay, basically what they gave you is a first offer. We can counter and negotiate and see if we can get a better deal. It's a business thing. You're never supposed to take the first offer.

What if I'm fine with the first offer?

What if the second offer is better? You should always find out what they're willing to give.

I guess it just doesn't seem necessary.

Don't worry about it, that's why it helps to have other people. I know this must all be frustrating, but it's good you brought it up with us instead of just doing something, you know?
