this sucks. ]
I'd like to save the life of our furnishings.
Have a beer, Thor. I'll be back soon.

it takes him more than a half an hour to get back to the apartment, and he hustles more than he'd like to admit. his supervisor had given him a disapproving stare, but he had insisted that it was something to do with family and managed to wiggle his way out of work. he wondered if all mortals had to deal with things that way; how gods damned annoying.
up he goes through the hallways and up the elevator (which is new and quick), heading down too the doorway in all of his current (and frustrating) inelegance. he gets to the door and it opens with some help from his neural implant, and he tries to put himself a little bit together as he heads inside. ]
Thor. [ he calls, immediately. ] Brother.

He also strips off his shirt and sets to working out, because he has to do something with all his anger. He's mid-rep when Loki comes through the door.
Sorry not sorry about the sweat puddle on the floor, btw.]
Here, brother. [Give him a moment he'll be done in a sec.]

Thor has a lot of anger, it's usually better when it's focused.
Loki steps past the small stairway and to the couch, sitting down with a huff and putting his hand to his forehead. ]
How long has it been since you returned?
[ they need to check the rest of the apartment, especially for bugs. there's no means of sorcery that can help him and it's making him sore. he needs to sit down first. soon. ]

[ Being Thor, there's no subtlety in the way he studies his brother, trying to get a read on his mood. He wants to know how he fared with the recent spate of anger. He wants to know how he's coped without Thor here these past two weeks. He wants to know everything they've discovered, or not. ]
Think you the security cameras in this building work? We ought to check them.
no subject
If there are, I doubt the footage is still available.
[ he chews on his lip, lashes low. if there's anything on his face, it's thoughtful concern, mixed with a hint of frustration. this is easier to talk about then what happened to him.
this is dealing with what's happened now. ]
Our displacers are quick. We should, despite, check this place for the unfortunate bug that may cause is grief in the future.
no subject
He rubs the towel over his face again.] You haven't refound your magic over the past two weeks, have you? [Manually searching everything for a tiny technological thing why]

Only my shapeshifting, but I'm hard-pressed to think of it as mine. [ he's not accessing the same powers as he was before, it feels completely different. it's not the easy flow and demands he makes of reality, but instead something else that feels almost as if it isn't his. he can reconcile through the control over his body, but it still feels ... strange. ]
Have you found anything upon your arrival?
[ Loki uncrosses his legs and stands again, running his hands along the inside of the couch in search of anything that shouldn't be there (but there are some things that should). ]
no subject
And then, because he must:] Though I was surprise to hear you at work, like some kind of responsible creature. Father would be proud.

We do have to blend in—if we're going to be in this place, I would know of it.
[ it's a good explanation, but it comes out of his mouth more like an excuse.
he huffs out a bratty puff of air and moves on to the counter. ]
Besides, it's a good way to get an in.
no subject
Aye, sure it is. [ He can't laugh quite as much as he'd like, poking about and lifting all the heavy furniture to get under it. He's just realised something unpleasant.]
Ymir's balls. It's unlikely my old job will still be mine.

There are many clubs that need strong biceps—finding another can't be terribly difficult. A change in scenery might be good for you.
[ the last few places get checked (their apartment isn't big), and Loki huffs a little bit. soon, he'll have to mention the certain something that's been nagging at him.
soon. ]
If anything else, you can punch a lot of people in the face for credits.
no subject
He sets a bed back down on the floor and looks over at Loki, a frown forming when he sees his brother's.]
I gather no progress has been made, discovering who is behind all this? [There are some faces he'd really like to punch.]
no subject
well, here it comes. ]
Ish. [ he admits, and then pauses. ] There was an incident. One of the nurses who had transported us in the vehicle had been caught on camera before the footage could be erased.
Naturally, Morningstar set us to work—affiliated or not—to find this fellow and interrogate as necessary. But, we didn't get a chance. Someone made it there before us, set the apartments aflame.

[If Thor was thinking a little more deeply about this he might connect Loki to that. But he hasn't yet, and he hasn't heard of anyone dying trying to restrain his brother so...]
There are still some of those out in the city, I hear.
no subject
[ he adds, but doesn't let it get to him—he's no hero, nor is he pretending to be one. ]
Thor, listen, among those infected ... well ...
[ why is this so hard. ]
no subject
no subject
this is a first step, right? he owes Thor so much more than just this. ]
I ... [ just a little more. ] I feel victim to it. [ a hand goes to the back of his head. ] There's much that I haven't told you, that I mean to, Thor, just ...
Some things I feel like I've stepped away from. Trying to be better than the Loki that's still so fresh in your mind, these habits that come back to haunt me. [ his brows pinch at the center, and he breathes. ] Like I'll never be able to stop hurting people.
no subject
Ymir's balls- how many did it take to stop you? [He's counted it a blessing he wasn't here, he has his doubts about whether he'd have allowed any to stop him. Even Loki would have been almost impossible to stop-
The fridge beeps a warning, letting Thor know he's left it open too long. He ignores it. There's more to think about.] You cannot blame yourself for this sickness, brother. I hear it affected any of came into contact with it. It made them all equally violent.
