[ there's a sour taste in his mouth from the mention of Odin, and Thor's satisfaction only draws the frown further down on his lips. ]

There are many clubs that need strong biceps—finding another can't be terribly difficult. A change in scenery might be good for you.

[ the last few places get checked (their apartment isn't big), and Loki huffs a little bit. soon, he'll have to mention the certain something that's been nagging at him.

Don't think I've forgotten about the underground fighting. [He'd brought it up just before he vanished. He still has great hopes for it.

He sets a bed back down on the floor and looks over at Loki, a frown forming when he sees his brother's.]

I gather no progress has been made, discovering who is behind all this? [There are some faces he'd really like to punch.]

[ Loki certainly hasn't forgotten about the underground fighting, but hey, they have some time to catch up, right? Thor trusts Loki to catch him up completely, right?

well, here it comes. ]

Ish. [ he admits, and then pauses. ] There was an incident. One of the nurses who had transported us in the vehicle had been caught on camera before the footage could be erased.

Naturally, Morningstar set us to work—affiliated or not—to find this fellow and interrogate as necessary. But, we didn't get a chance. Someone made it there before us, set the apartments aflame.

Aye, I've heard. Those who went in the building caught some disease.

[If Thor was thinking a little more deeply about this he might connect Loki to that. But he hasn't yet, and he hasn't heard of anyone dying trying to restrain his brother so...]

There are still some of those out in the city, I hear.

[ he adds, but doesn't let it get to him—he's no hero, nor is he pretending to be one. ]

Thor, listen, among those infected ... well ...

[ why is this so hard. ]

Well what? [He's got his head in the fridge looking for a beer, but I promise he's listening.]

[ it just get harder the longer he lingers. for a moment it's as if he won't follow up, as if his hesitance has gripped its cold fingers into him and tightened up his heart. it coils like a snake in his throat, trying to come up around it.

this is a first step, right? he owes Thor so much more than just this. ]

I ... [ just a little more. ] I feel victim to it. [ a hand goes to the back of his head. ] There's much that I haven't told you, that I mean to, Thor, just ...

Some things I feel like I've stepped away from. Trying to be better than the Loki that's still so fresh in your mind, these habits that come back to haunt me. [ his brows pinch at the center, and he breathes. ] Like I'll never be able to stop hurting people.

[His head shoots up over the fridge door, concern and anger warring on his expression. Confusion too, because there's more to what Loki's saying that just I fell victim to it.]

Ymir's balls- how many did it take to stop you? [He's counted it a blessing he wasn't here, he has his doubts about whether he'd have allowed any to stop him. Even Loki would have been almost impossible to stop-

The fridge beeps a warning, letting Thor know he's left it open too long. He ignores it. There's more to think about.] You cannot blame yourself for this sickness, brother. I hear it affected any of came into contact with it. It made them all equally violent.

[ but those things were still inside him, Thor never got that, even as he tries to comfort him now. feelings of superiority and bitter anger, taking slight in every move, that's something that he never thought that he'd feel again. perhaps those feelings were so familiar, that he almost felt like he was acting them out. ]

It was three—[ but ]—and more, as Ojiro was affected as well. They came after me, screaming of deicide.

We were both infected, and there were more needed to separate us. It wasn't pretty, Thor.

[ he has complicated feelings about all of this, and he doesn't know where to begin to unravel them. ]

[The fridge beeps again and Thor finally shuts it, thoughts of alcohol abandoned.]

I can well imagine. [He knows his brother of old, he's getting to know this one. They are not to be taken lightly.

He crosses the room to sit opposite Loki, hands resting on his knees as he leans forward to look at him intently. He's not sure how to respond, his familiar options of yell at loki or hit loki aren't appropriate now, and it's been a long time since talk with loki has been a viable option in times of conflict.]

I know full well how it feels to hurt others when I did not intend it, brother.

[ this is nothing like Thor knows: a Loki lacking malicious intention (dubious intention perhaps, but not malicious), who is trying to at least atone for some of what had happened (perhaps leave it behind), and who sometimes doesn't know how to approach certain situations that are not in the realm of his own experiences.

a frown tugs at Loki's lips, as he's not sure how to respond, either. ]

Then keep that in mind when I tell you plainly: Ojiro tried to kill me.

[ he keeps his gaze steady on Thor. ]

[Strange.

Many have tried to kill Loki over the years. Hel, he's tried and failed enough times to be rid of his treacherous brother. But hearing it from this youth--

His knuckles crack, his expression darkening.] Because of the sickness? [If it isn't, he will have business with them very shortly.]

[ it was the sickness, but it did come from somewhere. Loki knew that his own slights, though exaggerated, came from something inside of him. perhaps not everyone was like him in that respect, but it was hard to believe that they came from nothing at all. ]

I would assume, yes. I doubt they meant the sentiment fully, as much as I am used to it.

[ people trying to kill him, that is. ]

There's no need for alarm, it's over. Broken up—we were cured. It's been silent since.

Good. They seem a good person, it would be a shame for this to come between us. [Because of course Thor would pick his brother over a friend. It's the logical thing to do.]

Yet, I'd exercise some level of caution. What they said of gods—of their own world—they've a grudge to exercise with divinity.

[ Sniper had been screaming about killing him, and about killing Thor, and while Loki knew that it was partially (mostly) the infection that had spread during the fire, they needed to be careful. ]

I will speak with them about this. Find out the root cause of it.

Ojiro is good at talking, Thor.

[ maybe a little. he knows that Sniper is fond of Thor in some ways, though not the extent of it. ]

You might have to be a little more menacing.

I will see. [Better not to alienate anyone by being a thick brute, that hasn't worked out so well for him in the past.

Also excuse his stomach it's going to let him know how hungry he is. Loudly.]
