@keith.kogane
I know a lot of people are still recovering from what happened to them, but we have a responsibility to help the ones who are still sick. The news reports say that they've been taken into medical care. I think we need to do what we can to help them. I'm not sure how.
If I was at home, one of my teammates would have an answer.
[Well, Pidge. Pidge would have an answer.]
She'd find a way to harness whatever this freaky blue stuff is inside of us so that we could help someone else. Make a vaccination. Something. Do you guys think we can pull that off? Or do you guys have any ideas for how we can help? We can work together and get those people cured. Some of you weren't yourself the last few days. I wasn't, either. Imagine being stuck that way.
There's one other thing.
A lot of people want to get home. A lot of us need to get home. We left something important behind. But if we're a part of what's happening here, there's a chance we'll be leaving this world in worse shape than we found it. We need to do what we can to help.
I guess I should also apologize. That wasn't me. But the people I talked to didn't know that. I'm sorry.
So. Let me know what you guys think. And how we can help.

Because fine. You win. You're better. Happy now?

Now leave me alone.
\private
\private
Twice.
Yes, I started it. I realized that and I tried to stop it.
\private
Then you decided to keep taking pot shots.
\private
\private
I'll work with you. Not under you. I don't need a task force delegated to me, I'll make one myself.
You don't call the shots.
My priority here is saving lives and protecting people, not your ego.
\private
I don't think I'm better than anyone.
I just didn't want to get this mixed up by fighting over who gets to be leader. It's a waste of time, but I started this mission, so I intend to carry it out.

It looks like you have a team here that trusts you. You weren't lying about that.
I don't have my team here. Telling you I have one doesn't mean anything. It won't mean anything. Because you'll just decide I mess everything up for them. That's the way this has gone, and you haven't given me any reason to think differently.
\private
Let me reiterate since you didn't get it the first time: I don't care about you and your inferiority complex. I don't care about what you did or didn't do back home.
I care about what I've seen of you so far. You lashed out when I brought up how disorganized the effort is and didn't even attempt to go through what we knew with me, you told me to do it myself, and you lashed out when I wasn't interested in falling into line after offering advice.
\private
You insulted everyone. Not everyone's been across universes, or this far away from home, or lost months or maybe years of their lives like this. Just because we're used to it doesn't mean that everyone is, and not everyone's ready to go out and fight just because they don't have a choice.
[Which ... makes them pretty similar, doesn't it? Blinded by what they think other people should do. Only Keith's grown out of it a lot. Mostly. He got mad at """Matches""" the other day for it, for not helping when Keith all but demanded that he did.
Not that Keith knows Matches and Matches are the same person. Thanks Jason.
Still, assuming Markus is talking to him at the same time? His words are sinking in, even as Keith is impatient with him. His point is salient.]
Someone once told me that you can't just yell at people and force them to do stuff, even if it feels like the right thing. You can't just insult people because of how they've decided to handle stuff, because you think you could do better.
[Not that Keith truly understands that part. His inferiority complex is very real.]
That's all.
[Those two words come after Keith typing out and then backspacing on a lot. He ultimately goes with "that's all," because he doesn't think he'll ever come across as well as Shiro when it comes to relaying this perspective. He's fine that he doesn't, but it's hard to make the transition over from "making a point" to "being empathetic and understanding." He's bad at it, and definitely doesn't want to press the issue here.]
Re: \private
I asked what had been compiled so far. You said nothing and continued to dig in your heels when I pushed for what information you knew. You said you didn't want to be my search engine and refused to answer even the basic questions.
You got defensive when I pointed out how little had been done and how long you'd been here.
I'm not insulting "everyone". There are civilians here who have never been in a fight before. It's not their fault for being caught up in this, it's not their fault for not knowing how to react. I've met competent people here who know what they're doing and know how to take and give orders - if they mess up I would call them out on it. We're taking responsibility for other people's safety.
We have to be better than them to protect them.
I'm insulting you. I insulted you. My every comment was directed at you. Not the civilians, the rookies, or the people just trying to get by.
Stop hiding behind people who have nothing to do with this to make me seem like the worse person.
If you're intent on being the leader then you have to be the best, you can't settle for mediocrity because that's how people die.
\private
You can keep trying to make it about just me, but it's not.
I'll face my own problems and mistakes, but not the ones you make up for me.
\private
How are you not getting the 'you' in any of this.

Welcome to leadership: it involves a lot of tedious, annoying conversations with people who just want to know what the hell is going on.
