Greetings, fellow Displaced. I'm Trevor Belmont, and I have a slightly different type of inquiry than the sort I've been seeing 'posted' on here so far.

I haven't found a library or similar resource, and am struggling with learning relevant information using the network alone. Not facts about our situation, but about this strange future we've found ourselves in. Most people here seem to be from far further along than I am, enough to work the facilities and use a very different vocabulary to mine... I suppose I'm wondering if anyone has the time and inclination to be a tutor, of sorts? Just to explain some of this technology and catch me up on relevant terms and events from the past millennium or so, hopefully enough that I can stop turning every conversation I have into a game of a thousand questions. Folks have been fairly understanding, but it's not ideal.

My only request is that anyone who responds not treat me as a fool or a child. I'm fresh out of the past, not a crib.

I've no way to pay you, yet, but hopefully we can work something out. And I do thank you in advance for your consideration.

It would be appreciated. I'd like to seek employment quickly but don't understand enough to do so yet.

It's no problem. Some things are easier than others to get used to.
I know there's monsters out there, even if there isn't monster hunting. Have you been to the fighting rings?

I have, a new friend has found employ there so to speak, but I'm not pleased by the idea of injuring humans who don't genuinely wish me harm. A spar is one thing, this seems far more brutal.

Work as a laborer was suggested, but wrangling the equipment is beyond me.

[ it was a different sort of fighting than wishing harm on someone else. (for the most part, there were people who wished other people harm there, but the intentions were really up in the air.) ]

I can get behind that.
I work as a high rise gardener. There's openings there. Are you afraid of heights?

Heights? No, not at all. I'm not afraid of much, truth be told. But I have no skill as a horticulturist, I'd need training. Would they provide?

Probably. I didn't have training either. They were desperate.
If you can fight monsters, there's probably not much you can't do.

[ that's probably not how it works, but you know, encouragement. ]

That's kind of you to say, but I doubt I could manage... what's the proper term here? "Customer service"?

I'm happy to try gardening, though. Thank you for the suggestion. Is there any equipment you believe a fellow from 1476 would need a lesson with?

Big scissors and some tech. Most of the gardens that are overgrown are on high rises, so you get a good view.
If something comes up I'm happy to help.

You'll have to show me what you can do to keep away monsters. It could be useful.

I trust scissors haven't changed much. I appreciate the offer of assistance... and would be happy to offer some fighting instruction in return for a tutorial with the "tech."

Have you any combat training? Or understanding of demons? Hopefully the latter won't be necessary here, but knowledge is knowledge, now isn't it?

I've spent more time here fighting other people than monsters, but there are monsters too.
A really big one, once. Like Godzilla.

How are you with blades? Those are somewhat available here at least, while my weapon of choice is not.

There are monsters? What is a godzilla, and how did you fight it?

I have one I like.

Yeah, there are monsters. I've seen a bunch of them.
Godzilla's a giant prehistoric sea monster, the king of all monsters.
