Greetings, fellow Displaced. I'm Trevor Belmont, and I have a slightly different type of inquiry than the sort I've been seeing 'posted' on here so far.

I haven't found a library or similar resource, and am struggling with learning relevant information using the network alone. Not facts about our situation, but about this strange future we've found ourselves in. Most people here seem to be from far further along than I am, enough to work the facilities and use a very different vocabulary to mine... I suppose I'm wondering if anyone has the time and inclination to be a tutor, of sorts? Just to explain some of this technology and catch me up on relevant terms and events from the past millennium or so, hopefully enough that I can stop turning every conversation I have into a game of a thousand questions. Folks have been fairly understanding, but it's not ideal.

My only request is that anyone who responds not treat me as a fool or a child. I'm fresh out of the past, not a crib.

I've no way to pay you, yet, but hopefully we can work something out. And I do thank you in advance for your consideration.

Yes? You've been quite patient about it so far, but far be it from me to assume that anyone wants to continue in such a manner.

Starting with the technology here would be the most helpful. As hands-on as possible, when so little requires actual hands? I'd like to secure employment, likely of the sort you suggested but there's still a steep learning curve when you don't know what the words on the equipment's buttons mean.

[ It must suck to feel so completely off balance, to have no context for the majority of the surrounding world. He sympathizes, in a vague sort of way. But it also helps to have allies, and Trevor is a strong fighter. Staying on his good side will serve the mission in the long run. ]

Might be easier to do this in person. But the big thing would be the neural implants. How to send messages, get paid, gather information. Things like that.

Of course. Always good to see a friendly face, as well... I've gotten some help with messages and posting, but the information gathering is still beyond me.

And pay, that'd be good to know. I do see that little counter ticking down what they gave us to start with.

Unfortunately, there isn't much in the way of physical libraries. I can show you some electronic databases to work through as well do my best to answer questions.

I have not compared the calendars, but the technology and landscape are both entirely strange to me. I have been told my country is unheard of here.

A bunch of us teenagers do schoolwork because El set us up to be 18, so we can't do the school program here. This isn't to treat you like a kid, but you might learn a lot from working off some of the same lesson plans as us.

[ Trevor isn't that far off from being a teenager, really, and has never had formal schooling. As such the concept gives him pause, but he replies fairly quickly. ]

I may well. What base of knowledge are you all coming from, and what sort of subjects are you learning?

We got a hold of some high school education files here. So, that's the base. History, math, science. We write essays and have some people look them over.

But you can do whatever you want to do.

For the record, you're seeking out a tutor and asking that one doesn't treat you like a child. Are children and young adults not tutored where you come from?

Someone at the Safehouse told me how to display things, and that helped a great deal. Now it's much like writing a letter, but... strange.

More or less everything is new, yes. I've very limited experience with electricity, for instance, and it seems to power absolutely everything here. Including our current conversation, somehow, intangibly. It's a bit overwhelming. The plumbing is also exceedingly bewildering.

You just have to think about what you want and it happens, basically! Pretty straightforward.

I'm not that great with technology either, honestly. I'm from an island and things were pretty simple there, I guess. So if I can figure it out, I'm sure you can too!

I guess this is my way of saying that I'm probably not the best choice for a tutor, but I'm cheering you on anyway.

Very far indeed, yes. Over a thousand years, if this world's development is comparable to my own. Which it seems to be from what I've learned so far.
