( text, at least, obscures some of the discomfort he has at the idea of postin' like this. he ain't quite sold on the whole thing, but... better than nothin', an' he ought to make himself known on account'a the medic work anyhow. )
I hope this message finds y'all well.
My name is Eugene Hicks. I'm a veterinarian by trade, but I was a medic with a paratrooper infantry division in what those from Earth may know as the Second World War. Whatever gives us the source of our powers has seen fit to grant me some small healing ability also.
I've heard that medical personnel are in short supply, so please don't hesitate to seek me out should there be a need. I'm in residence at the safe house for the time being. I don't hardly care if we disagree on all things great or small or if you think it's a bother, it ain't.
Also, if anyone knows a decent pizza joint hereabouts, I'd appreciate being directed to it. Does the future have Coca-Cola perchance?
Thank you very sincerely for your time,
-EPH.

Come on in, I've got everything set up in the kitchen. You can put your shoes there.
[ another gesture at the mat by the door. silena is a Neat Freak, she can't have people tramping dirt around her apartment, their little vacuum pet already runs twice a day. ]

neat freak meet southron hospitality. gene whistles a little under his breath as he takes in the apartment, smoothin' down his hair which is just now gettin' a touch longer than he likes. )
Beautiful home you've made yourself here, Miss.

[ and she let silena help decorate because she was very firm in the idea that is be all of their's together. there are a lot of teenage girl touches -- too many throw pillows, so many strings of fairy lights, soft blankets and soft rugs across the buttery soft faux-wood floors. a cocoon of softness and tidy to the point that it could be in a home & gardens magazine spread.
the kitchen is just as neat and bright with supplies already laid out on the counter and two glasses of lemonade waiting because silena unfortunately cannot recreate sweet tea, though caroline had tried to describe it in detail.
silena gestures to the counter like a girl from price is right. ] Voilà! I didn't know if you needed white or apple cider vinegar so I put them both out. We also have malt vinegar for my french fries.

Huh. How about that.
( it's said mostly to himself, as he reaches up to adjust the brim of a hat he ain't wearin'. )
Ah... apple cider's well an' fine, that'd be the one I prefer most myself. It was very kind of you to get everythin' set up like this.

[ she likes feeling helpful and making other people feel at home. if she can make someone smile or feel comfortable or have a better day its a tiny spike of that rush she got whenever she was around charlie. ]

( he's a fair hand at bakin' an' cookin' an' all that, but lordy does pie crust hate him somethin' fierce. ain't never figured out why. it was one thing his momma's ghost never passed along to him.
but enough about that. he jumps right into the prep work, quick an' efficient-like. it's clear he ain't shy about this manner'a work, for all that it was thought to be a woman's prerogative back in his relative day an' age. he don't really bother about specific measurements, simply addin' things by feel an' sense. though at one point — )
Don't suppose you've got any vanilla on hand, huh?

I can help, you know, [ silena mentions, passing over a bottle that is labeled artificial vanilla essence. she'd tried it once before adjusting the flavor to 100% real vanilla sourced from somewhere in the caribbean. ]
It tastes like real vanilla, I promise.
[ she is perfectly happy simply watching him bake, for the record. ] My dad was a chocolatier. I grew up watching him in the kitchen.
