[peter's only just gotten one roommate back to find that the other has gone missing. is he thinking clearly when he posts this? probably not, or perhaps he might specify which of his roommates seems to be gone.]

It sucks no matter how many times one of us seems to vanish without a trace.
But I have a practical question to ask all of you: how long is an acceptable amount of time to wait before I assume someone isn't coming back and pack up their things?

I assumed he was with you.

She was fun. Then again, you don't like wine right? So maybe not so fun for you.

[yes had, but peter's not sure. he knows he went off hard with marcos' disappearance and yes he's glad that he's back but like maybe it's because bobbi had been there for so much longer than either one of them that it seemed harsher to assume that she was actually gone gone.]

You didn't answer my question though. What's the proper etiquette in a situation like this?

[ admittedly, he hasn't been there that much since getting back so he hasn't noticed her absence. because yes, he's in caroline's kitchen right now, wearing pants and trying to figure out what to make for breakfast. ]

As far as I can tell, yeah.

[peter's not judging him at all on that front. he remembers just how frantic caroline was during that whole ordeal. her whole 'i'm stressed. i'm cleaning. i'm stress cleaning' mantra and all.]

I'm not sure that I'm ready to give up hope, but... you know?

yeah. she's disappeared before. i wouldn't call it final just yet.

[ and maybe he doesn't want to either. katelin had been one of the first people he'd met here and she'd been a good friend. ]

is her stuff still in her room?

Yeah for all I know she'll come in with a bottle of wine and dinner tonight and kick my ass at go.

[he'd only taken a quick peek in her room, so he can't be sure what is or isn't there, but there was enough still present to make it seem like she hadn't taken much of anything if she was just elsewhere rather than gone.]

It looks like it. Nothing looks out of place or broken and obviously it hasn't been long enough for dust bunnies.

Two weeks.

[ rey has watched a lot of friends come and go. any who've been gone for more than two weeks haven't remembered when they came back. they won't miss their things, after that. ]

I don't want to offend her on the off chance that I'm wrong about this, you know?

Pretty sure that Katelin would just make me help her unpack and buy her drinks for the next month.

[ that's not good. she's one of the only people who'd been here from the beginning, and one of the only people capable of substantive medical analysis. ]

I'm sorry. It sounds like you were close.
It never gets any easier.
You might ask Dr. Strange about storing her belongings at the bar after her rent is due, if you need a space and want to keep them packed up.

I don't think we need the space, but I'll keep it in mind if we do.

Katelin. That's Bobbi. An ally turned friend, a woman from his world who he's unlikely ever to meet there. Someone who's been here since the start, and instrumental in many of the practical advancements they've made. There aren't many of them left now.

If it comes to it, we've plenty of space. And a bottle of wine on the house.

I've lost more than a few people I've cared about over the years.

It doesn't get any easier no matter how often you experience it.

It's definitely not unheard of and I really hope so.

[of course, there's no guarantee that she'd remember her time here if she did, which is another conversation entirely.]

For me, it was just long enough for them to miss the rent.

Yeah, I guess that would be a logical answer.
And if it was just the two of us living together, I'd probably be right there with you and looking for someone to take up residence.

I think we can probably handle keeping her stuff there for a little longer than that at least.

I don't have much practice with paying rent. It's very inconvenient.

But if she does return, she'd probably like to have something to return to.
