So I know I can't be the only one who's had the unexpected pleasure of coming into possession of messages that aren't intended for my consumption. I'm not talking about you getting someone's private love letters or metaphorical cat video links, which I've gotten and deleted.

If I were back home, I'd be sliding this info to my nearest and dearest investigative journalist type. Since I'm not, well, I guess I've got to take matters in my own hands.

It's an interesting read, so, I'm just going to include the unedited details for all.

[what follows is a copy of the message that peter had received earlier, sent from lydia gill-jade, which seems the sort of thing that would come up in a current headlines search if it weren't presumably a secret. well, so much for that, huh?]

Maybe it's just me, but do people usually name successors for campaign donations?

Don't go in with bad intel, then? You're probably right to say that.
I'm hoping others come forward with their dirty little details.

It is good to have all these misfired messages in one place. I hope they do too. Though it makes me wonder if people outside of the Displaced are getting these messages as well.

I wonder if they are would they think anything of it.
Or are they so accustomed to their world being the way it is that they'd just brush it aside.

Wouldn't be the first time someone here decided to tin-hat.

If we do not hear anything from locals, I think it would suggest they are not getting the messages more than they do not care. If they were aware, there would probably be more hints before now, at the very least of their acceptance.

Assuming that a significant enough number of those messages got out to people to cause any sort of commotion, even if it was only a brief blip in the grand scheme before people quietly took it for what it was.

Also assuming that these people aren't being quietly hushed by the same government they've supposedly elected.
I'm really not trying to play conspiracy theorist here, but it's easier for me to think if I just rattle off all possibilities that crop up in my head.

Conspiracy theory or otherwise, it is always smart to come at something from every possible angle. Even the outlandish ones. With how this world seems to function, there is very little that might actually be outlandish in the end.

I would not put it beyond a government to hush it's people. It would just suggest a very wide effort in a city like this.

Wide but not impossible.
There's no shortage of resources at their disposal.
You sound like you've seen your fair share of corrupt governments rise.

Wishful thinking to hope that maybe you've seen them fall too?

I have not seen a government of this size with this much power that was not corrupt.

I have seen the fall of many smaller governments, but I have learned there are always people willing to push for the fall of the corruption. I do not believe they can last forever.
