@peter.benjamin
So I know I can't be the only one who's had the unexpected pleasure of coming into possession of messages that aren't intended for my consumption. I'm not talking about you getting someone's private love letters or metaphorical cat video links, which I've gotten and deleted.
If I were back home, I'd be sliding this info to my nearest and dearest investigative journalist type. Since I'm not, well, I guess I've got to take matters in my own hands.
It's an interesting read, so, I'm just going to include the unedited details for all.
[what follows is a copy of the message that peter had received earlier, sent from lydia gill-jade, which seems the sort of thing that would come up in a current headlines search if it weren't presumably a secret. well, so much for that, huh?]
Maybe it's just me, but do people usually name successors for campaign donations?

@margaret.carter
I'd heard rumours that the Maeda family backed Gill-Jade's campaign (the wife and husband both hold chairs on the Board of Directors for Giles Bell and Pulsar respectively) and this clearly supports that claim. I'm afraid that's all I know through public records.
While we're on the topic of next year's elections, Joseph Lynch has a strong showing in the polls. But I don't think anyone believes he can win — at least not anyone I work with.
@james.holden
@daenerys.targaryen
That can work to Lynch's advantage, if the cards are played correctly.
The greatest threat is oft the one no one sees coming.

Gill-Jade seems to have been neutral to ineffective during her tenure. Jovavich seems to have more grit behind her, which makes one wonder how aggressively she'll push her backers' agendas. Lynch, on the other hand, is more focused on charity and outreach. He's been helping the impoverished for decades, judging by the records I'd seen. For a government supported by corporations and all involved benefitting by the classism in place, that makes him a bit of a wildcard, don't you think?

Kind of wishing I'd just gone to you first with this, but I'm glad you could bring some insight into what just felt like some serious bad news.
Gonna have to second [Bad username or site: james @ holden]'s question about Lynch.

And no, I'm glad you brought this to the network. It helps us to keep an ear to the ground with the local politics at play, especially when we run the risk of exposing ourselves the longer we're here and helping people. I've elaborated on Lynch with Mr Holden above, but I'll also add that my friends at City Hall and the UN seem to consider him a soft choice — due to his philanthropic efforts, I assume. Perhaps they want a political animal with more bite.
They did admit he's appealing to the public eye, likely because of that very reason. I'd think the people are itching for someone different this time around, especially in the wake of all this trouble. Seems to me as though Lynch is the sort of man who would not only speak for his people, but listen to them first. But that's just extrapolation from what I've read online.

[call him old fashioned if you will but conspiracy theorizing over the internet doesn't feel quite the same as a meetup.]
But no that definitely makes sense. Philanthropy and corporate interests rarely go hand in hand. And the possibility of someone who could upset things wouldn't be my go to either if I was in a position of power right now.
I've always been a fan of the underdog, but we may be headed toward more of the same, or worse.
