Investigation into the leak that lead to the raid on Morningstar agents in September strongly suggests that the source might, in fact, be survivors of the crash in June.

It is time to consider moving on the UNA.

However, this poses several problems, particularly given that our goal is ultimately to reclaim the captured agents.

The first is determining their location; Morningstar has been unable to track the captured agents and it is likely that the UNA has a means to nullify or otherwise cloak the implants much in the way Morningstar has been able to do with the Displaced following each drop-off.

The second is extracting the agents once we have determined their location; this will place any rescuers directly in the path of UNA soldiers who are, as experience suggests, difficult to engage directly. It is also likely that in accomplishing this, the UNA will immediately suspect Morningstar which will lead to an elevation in hostility.

The most efficient way to acquire the information that will allow us to do both is to go to the source: capturing one of their soldiers.

To that end, the UNA has a base locally. Scouting for information will be difficult though not impossible.

Ideally, we will be looking to pin down movement patterns and shift times before moving onto outright capture; the soldiers work in groups. We will also need to secure a site to hold them once they’re in our custody.

Those that wish to assist are welcome, particularly those with abilities and experience beyond that which Morningstar can provide. Additionally, anyone wishing to weigh in on this plan or offer alternatives should do so now, as the longer the agents remain in UNA custody, the greater the risk to the rest of us.

You're assuming it has to do with the drugs. I can't look into testing it either way without assistance. I care about the drugs. But I don't think it's drugs that's making them act this way. A very large part of what's in our system when we arrive is a sedative, and I think we can confirm that they aren't sedated in the least. We discussed this possibility on Loki's post back in the day.

But if you can find a way to test it, yes, I'd like to know the answer if it comes up positive. As it has to do with the Displaced.

It was a theory. I offered to facilitate giving you the chance to test that theory. You weren't interested.

[ ergo, it won't be tested if she's not following it up because it couldn't be more outside of rey's wheelhouse. the key to cooperation is that it be, well, mutual. this just feels like clarke spitting on her effort to be helpful to clarke's aims, then asking that rey still look into them and let her know the outcome. ]

[ with the way she'd taken point on it, rey had taken her for an expert. she's only incrementally forcing herself to walk that assumption back now, hearing clarke say it's a matter of can't, not won't. ]

Fitz tells me that there's someone who might be able to help in this specific arrangement. Maybe Morningstar? I don't know. I know we're limited here as we stand.

It's just an unfortunate reminder that without Katelin around, I'm likely to lose my job soon.

[She doesn't blame Katelin for it. Not one bit. It's not Katelin's fault.

It's just ... a bad situation. One that may have even arose if Katelin were around.]

[ sympathy wins out over whatever frustration she's had with clarke's approach in the past. ]

I got my job through the dreams. I was trying to get a shoe-in for an internship. They're paid, but they train you. A lot here is about trade and training, and I thought it would look good on my resume.

[Because Clarke doesn't want to leave this world. That's the inherent end goal of everything she does.]

Instead, I got one step above, with all the presumed knowledge and experience that goes with it. As if I've already transitioned away from apprenticeship into being independent. It would've been a lot easier with Katelin around.

[ A statement of the conclusion she's drawn, not an accusation. She does, for the record, notice that Clarke is investing. There's value in this job that isn't a means to an end for her. Rey's happy to sit at the job she has, just to pay the bills and get by. Clarke's looking at advancing, learning skills. There's something settled in that. ]

I'm sorry I can't be of any help. I don't know anything about what you do, obviously.
But there must be someone else here who can help you learn it. What about Stephen?

Unfortunately, he's a neurosurgeon. He might know some of it, might be able to tell counts and things, but from what I understand, most doctors send off these tests. Where I grew up, the doctors were trained to do both, but I wasn't yet at the point where I was completing my training, and I never continued it.

I'm continuing it now to help the Displaced and to be able to stand among the people doing things, but as you can see, that's backfired a bit.

[That isn't the whole truth, but Clarke isn't going to throw Stephen "Made Me Feel Useless" Strange under the bus.]

[ before she types out her response, rey is aware that there's a 90% chance she's going to sound incredibly stupid. but she's been working on getting more comfortable with that. fitz has been helping her get more comfortable with that, aware that there are many places where she knows far more than others, and she'd never accuse daenerys of being stupid for being out of her depth with the world's technology, so-- ]

What about the internet?
I mean Riku and Sora and Jon and I have been using it to study, without going into school properly.
The information that you're missing isn't accessible somewhere for reference? There aren't video lesson or something?

I'm taking classes online, but we're all a little busy. I can't just take it all in quickly.

If Clarke could just download all this information into her brain, she would. Anything to feel less useless.]

What if you start looking around for other internships now? Take the demotion. Surely if you're qualified for the job, someone at another company would take you for an internship.

In theory, this will all not matter because Katelin's going to come back to us.

Rey, it's all right. Ms Griffin signed on as a contact, not an agent, and she's well within her rights to dictate the terms of her involvement with Morningstar. We still have a few other lab contacts from the old network we can reach out to if we require their services.

I understand. But wanting to know and having the means to find out are two different things. We have other resources capable of handling it.

Whatever findings we have that concern the Displaced as a whole will be shared with them. [ Which she's aware is part of Clarke's investment in Morningstar, and why she says it now, for her — and others — to see as well as Rey. ] Fitz and I have always been clear on that matter.
