@marcos.diaz

[ marcos hadn't really expected to be back on this network so soon but he'd said he'd do something and while it was a little later than expected, he was going to follow through with that. ]

Not too long ago, I was here with questions about a different version of me being here before. Seems like there's a few people that's happened to now so our club's growing. I'm not here for that today.

During that conversation, I told someone that I'd ask a question to all the Displaced because she was curious and honestly, I am too.

Question is why do you stick around? Why haven't more of you 'fucked off into oblivion' to quote the last conversation I had about this? Is it because there's nowhere else better to go? Or something else?

[ it'd be interesting to see if there was genuine thought in some of the answers, if people didn't know there was anywhere else to go, or just didn't want to make the effort. ]

To be clear, I'm not advocating one way or another. Just posing the question.

[ OOC: this isn't an official mod requested communication and isn't part of some bigger plot. it's just curiosity born of a conversation marcos had with gaby here that he said he'd ask about so he's asking. feel free to talk to each other, of course, and i'll answer as i can. ]

And not everyone is prepared for such a life.

Personally, no. I imagine some may feel that way, but I do not see it as an obligation to pay them back. Not to say I would not help, but that it would come from a choice rather than a sense of owing.

And they could have. We could be refused access to even the IDs they give us without agreeing to join. It is that fact that makes me believe they are genuine in wanting to help the people of this world. We could have nothing to do with them, and they would have still helped us. Whether there are ulterior motives remains to be seen, but their actions have been telling towards that as well.

These resources remain accessible. The poverty of this world does not seem like something people would willingly go into, even to those who might not want to stick around.

Some people, yes. But not all. Blanket statements are tricky, despite noticeable patterns.

I have found that very rarely is poverty chosen, unless one was in hiding.

Is it your goal to keep asking personal questions?

Fair enough. But I have not thought about it.

[ yes he fucking has, are you kidding? ]

Or just thinking about other things.

We have plenty of areas to choose from in this place. What is it that keeps you around then, if you have thought about leaving?

They seem to be in a very good place to help us with those answers, and I do not mind helping them in return.

[ at the very least, it'll be mutually beneficial! ]

I would never ignore that, no.

It could also say a lot about the directions people are looking in. Though I cannot imagine any answers here are going to be easy to find.

Unless the answer is just their amusement.

It could be one giant experiment.

I have no doubt it would be bad across the board. It is my least favorite option.

Going in with a preset conclusion is a bad idea anyway. I do not want to assume anything about this place, except what it shows.

I did not say assumptions were not there anyway. It is just important to be objective or aware of any bias, especially if something goes against any preexisting theories.

And much harder to do when the subject at hand might be more personal. But I think it is still important to try.
