Not too long ago, I was here with questions about a different version of me being here before. Seems like there's a few people that's happened to now so our club's growing. I'm not here for that today.

During that conversation, I told someone that I'd ask a question to all the Displaced because she was curious and honestly, I am too.

Question is why do you stick around? Why haven't more of you 'fucked off into oblivion' to quote the last conversation I had about this? Is it because there's nowhere else better to go? Or something else?

[ it'd be interesting to see if there was genuine thought in some of the answers, if people didn't know there was anywhere else to go, or just didn't want to make the effort. ]

Of course not. We have to live our lives.
But we should all be aware that our lives are never going to be settled down and comfortable until we know for sure that we're not going to vanish tomorrow.

Some people might accept that, though.

You can't have both. You can't want to stay, and not worry about the possibility that you and people you love might just vanish. That doesn't make any sense.

I agree with you.
I'd hope that anyone who wanted to stay would be worried.
Not that there's anything they can do to stop that from happening.

But in that instance, I think their end goal would become less about answers and more about making their time count.

Answers could provide a way to stop it. Buy them more time.

Because if there's no certainty either way, then I choose hope.

There's more than one way to have hope.

What you're describing isn't hope; it's giving up.

Or it's living.

I'm like you. I want to find answers.
But I've been around people that just want to live, both here and back where I'm from.
I can't tell them that's wrong.

It may surprise you to learn that plenty of us live and look for answers. But just resigning yourself to the will of whatever power brought us here isn't living, it's hiding.
We all deserve better than that.

Look, you don't have to convince me. I get where you're coming from but I think there's people out there that are going to disagree.

I know of one person already who thinks this place is better than where they came from.
So maybe they're hope is staying right here.

I'm not saying it couldn't be better than where they come from. I'm saying that they might wind up right back where they came from if we don't find answers. People disappear all the time just like you did, and they don't all come back, Marcos.
If people really want to stay here instead of returning, they'll be invested in answers too. It's certainty.

I think that's presumptuous, saying something's a certainty in any kind of life. There's no way to know that but I think we're going to talk ourselves in circles. You have our opinion, I have mine. Nothing wrong with that.
