[ marcos hadn't really expected to be back on this network so soon but he'd said he'd do something and while it was a little later than expected, he was going to follow through with that. ]

Not too long ago, I was here with questions about a different version of me being here before. Seems like there's a few people that's happened to now so our club's growing. I'm not here for that today.

During that conversation, I told someone that I'd ask a question to all the Displaced because she was curious and honestly, I am too.

Question is why do you stick around? Why haven't more of you 'fucked off into oblivion' to quote the last conversation I had about this? Is it because there's nowhere else better to go? Or something else?

[ it'd be interesting to see if there was genuine thought in some of the answers, if people didn't know there was anywhere else to go, or just didn't want to make the effort. ]

To be clear, I'm not advocating one way or another. Just posing the question.

It's a safety net.

We come in with nothing. No credits, no identity. It's survival dependant upon help of the people around us. It takes more than an handful of weeks to fuck off anywhere.

Apparently, it happened once before.

Conversation I had, she said two men announced they were fucking off, did it and disappeared. Doubt they really had time to stock up.

But, they're also gone so maybe they should have taken the time to get themselves ready.

But, I would have hoped she'd say something if they were murdered.
That's a little big to keep to herself.

She might not know. Disappeared could mean kidnapped or imprisoned, but if they've gone off the radar entirely something would have had to take out their IDs.

I didn't really ask her to go into detail either.
I took disappeared to mean not here anymore.
Either gone from this planet or gone from this city.
But there's no real way to tell.

You know why leaving isn't something I think about. For right now, this planet is it. Sometimes I worry that I'll wake up and my

will be gone. But there's no guarantee without all the disappearances. Maybe that's the silver lining to growing up in war, I'm already used to it.
