Turns out that we're missing two new faces around the safehouse.

I'd play a guessing game as to why I wasn't told, but I don't care. These two faces apparently murdered two people that night.

I don't know who they are, but I do know that they're locked up. Any guesses as to what's going to happen to them?

Genuine question. Because I don't know.

Oh, and because some of you think you can do whatever the hell you want around here: don't think the way out for them is a jail break. Don't even fucking try it. And no, Morningstar isn't in the business of breaking people out of jail, because that would be stupid.

Well let me paint a picture for you.
You have two dimensionally and temporarlly displaced unknowns now in the custody of the government, who may or may not be the enemy, who are in possession of metahuman abilities with very little knowledge of the rest of the world. They have a taste for blood and no loyalty, no reason for keeping their mouths shut. Hell, they could massacre the whole prison in a fit depending on what their abilities are.
Were they given access to the network? Because they could sell us all out in a heartbeat.
But by all means, leave them where they are. Screw over what little you've managed to accomplish.

I've seen you around. I know you think you know better than the rest of us. You don't.

They don't have access to anything, because they didn't make it here, or else they would be here and not in a cell. Instead, this little message would be, "I sure as hell hope none of you decided to go out and kill someone during that lovely party the other day." It wasn't.

As it is, I don't tend to respect solutions that begin with more deaths.

You don't know a thing about me. And you don't know anything about leadership or sacrifices if you think you can keep every liability alive for the sake of your own conscience.

If they didn't make it here then fine, let them live. That's not going to cut down on the high probability of then discovering their abilities and going to down on everyone they're locked in there with.

I wasn't aware that there was a risk of one of you going nuclear. Am I wrong about that?

You're in a position of authority whether you want it or not.

If someone's first instinct is to kill, what the hell do you think they're going to do when they find out they have superpowers? Power in the wrong hands costs lives.

Who's to say that anyone else's hands aren't the wrong hands? This is a bad road to walk. It's off the table.

A murderer's hands are the wrong hands. That's barely even a question worth asking.

Two people, including you, just suggested killing these men.

So, what about your powers?

Killing a dangerous person isn't the same thing as killing an innocent one.
My powers are under control.

Look.
This is going to end up on the media. If they didn't get to the safe house then they won't have an identity. That will end up all over their news, probably with their faces and a call for people to identify them.
You may be able to spin it as something else. They're some escaped mental patients or someone ripped out their implants and caused brain damage in the process, that's why they killed.
This is again assuming they aren't going to slaughter everyone they're in close quarters with.
You may have to prepare for more than just some freaks with some glow in the dark paint to know we exist.

Gaby doesn't have to prepare for anything. We're not Morningstar's problem, they're helping us for free. Whether killing them is the right thing to do is a moot point. We don't have the resources to pull off a double murder, not even a single.

I'm smart enough to know when a murder's likely to draw more attention, not less.
When the nurse was killed, we became more suspicious, didn't we?
The same would be true for your apparent targets.

The way I see it, we're a valuable asset to them. How the hell else are they going to defeat monsters and deal with what the enemy throws at them?
Don't be naive.

I promise you, Morningstar didn't tell us to go fight the kaiju, that was all our idea. We're an asset but we're also a huge risk. There's a world outside of New Amsterdam, and bigger, more complicated problems for them to deal with than a giant monster.

We're a resource in their insurgency. Liability or not we offer something no one else can.
But whatever, fine.
Let them slaughter each other and expose the whole operation.
If it's not her problem, it's not my problem.
I've got better things to do than to keep criminals alive anyway.
