I honestly don't know how I got here. I was hoping somebody could tell me.

I'm not really supposed to greet strangers who set off the security alerts politely. In fact, I'm not really supposed to greet them at all.

Well you have to have come from somewhere, right?

So why did you? Because there are so many of us at once?

Yes. I came from Nepal. I was doing some field testing in the mountains. That's why this is so confusing. I was alone. Isolated. It's not like I was grabbed from a city street.

You got past the basic security. None of your neural implants are registered. If you're UNA, they're trying some bizarre as hell new tactic.

So why do you think you were grabbed at all?

I don't know what UNA is. What does it stand for?

I can't really say. I'm a climatologist and I was recovering lost data in between my field testing of new equipment. Would someone here need someone with my background?

United Nations Army. You'll know them when you see them. But try to avoid seeing them.

Climatologists are a dime a dozen, so I doubt it. Besides, if you'd been taken for that, they'd have you working. You wouldn't remember nothing between that and walking into the safehouse.

In that case, I really can't think of a reason why I would be taken. Unless this has something to do with former Overwatch agents?

I don't know if I should tell you. And I have no idea what that is.

It's just that Overwatch used to work for the United Nations, as a peacekeeping force. Some might call it an army, but I was in the science branch, looking into climate change. But Overwatch was shut down, so if the UN has an army, it has to be my future, doesn't it?

What year do you think it is?

If I had to guess? 2100?

Why was Overwatch shut down?

They said we weren't needed anymore. That we weren't following the law and saw ourselves as above it. I don't really know anything that went on behind the scenes. I was stationed far away and only heard about it later.

But you didn't believe that yourself?

I'd only ever known Overwatch to do good. To protect people in areas in a crisis, or to do research in how to protect the world. It's possible the UN thought we were too powerful. More powerful than them. I don't really know.

But that's what you were with them for? Protecting people?

Yes, in a way. I was studying the dramatic climate shift that was taking place. People had theories, especially blaming the omnics for it, but I was pursuing the truth, and to see if the data I collected could be used to change things before the climate got any worse.

What are the omnics?

They're robots who were created in omniums, which are factories where self aware robots build other robots. The omnics have free will, but the self aware god AI in the omniums can take over their minds if they want. There was a war, where the omnics attacked humans and tried to take over. They were defeated, sort of, but there's still fighting in some places, and in others the omnics living there have few rights and are blamed for everything.

We had a war like that too. But we wiped the AI out. And the planet was messed up already.

But what I've said doesn't sound familiar at all? If not, then this can't be my Earth's future.

I don't think it is.
