Glimmer, @castiel.winchester, and myself were tasked with putting together a training program for the civilians here which we are in the final stages of. Depending on the interest from the citizens here, we will need more instructors. The plan is basic hand-to-hand combat with an emphasis on self-defense and stealth techniques in order to flee safely. @ziggy.stardust made us safe weapons to train with too. We are not looking to make warriors of them, but to help them keep alive in the inevitable next attack. If you don't feel comfortable volunteering here, you can message me separately or come to Red Wings and speak in person.

This will be a free service for them and a volunteer organization for now. @hafid.alghul is helping us with marketing. We need a name if anyone has ideas. Once these final touches are done, it will be marketed and then launched.

The warehouse is bought and we got sponsors before the Aerie that have agreed to continue. It won't be specifically connected to Red Wings but its own entity. It's likely people will put together that it's run by at least one Displaced since I haven't made it a secret. You can say you're just a volunteer and they may believe you, but I wanted to be upfront that complete anonymity isn't guaranteed.

Edited to add: I was not clear on the process. I would like to meet with volunteers, we will go over our plans for training so they are also prepared for training these civilians. Abilities will be tested and discussions will be had first. You don't have to be a trainer to volunteer, we can help make the transition from warrior to teacher. Castiel and I are both very experienced.

Not every fighter can be a teacher, there will be training on our end, discussion of the purpose, and testing of abilities. I am very aware of the Displaced members as a silent observer.

I wasn't talking about the Displaced.
I mean the people we're training. We don't necessarily want to just teach any Joe Shmoe who comes in off the street how to use weapons. I know you said it's more about self-defense and stealth, but even so.

Weapons aren't the initial training. It would be unwise to jump straight to that before people know how to fight at all. It will begin with the basics of self-defense and stealth. That will give the trainers time to observe their civilians. If anything stands out as a red flag, they can say as much before we go from amateur to anything else.

I'm not going to make this more difficult for people who are choosing to sign up. It's not an easy endeavor for them to go outside of their comfort zone. They'll be observed closely.

Yes, I understand his caution, but I'm confident any real warrior will be able to pick up on someone being shady. I'm not going to make this difficult and give reasons for the civilians to get spooked out of it.

Yes I see now I didn't put down details on how the process will be for new instructors. There will be discussion, testing of abilities, and gauging if someone is used to training others or not. The latter does not exclude people who are new to it, it's just to get everyone on the same level.

Yes. Including those who didn't know which end of their weapon to hold to start. I was closer to law enforcement than military, where sometimes I had to take down a dragon.

Good, as you know then training the unskilled is a completely different set of experiences than fighting with people who know how. That's just one of the things I'm looking out for.

i can help with training. never been much of an instructor, though.

It's a different set of skills to train inexperienced people, and I can help explain. I've trained children and normal people alike.

You mean training within the Displaced community with our powers? That is something that's been discussed before but I'm unsure if we have an official set up for it.
