@shinobu.kocho
Hello.
I may have spoken with some of you previously here on the network, but for those whom I haven't yet, my name is Shinobu and I was part of the last group of arrivals.
As I'm sure you're all aware by now, prior to our drop off to Red Wings (or any other location in the interim), we are under the influence of a compliance drug and are directed to Red Wings first before the safe house to settle in and wait for our IDs.
From what I gathered, El has been our primary contact whenever there is a new group of Displaced; a message is sent to all of us in the hopes that at least a few of us will be able to retrieve them and bring them to the safe house.
Lately, the protocol seems to have changed somewhat.
The purpose of me reaching out to you is to see if any of you would be interested in becoming part of a welcome committee, of sorts. To help meet new Displaced, regardless of where they're dropped off; to explain our situation as best we can and help flush the drug from their systems before shuttling them off to the safe house where they're to be held for the next four days.
I believe having a set group of people to do this will help alleviate the tensions between older and newer Displaced, as well as to ease the transition of newer Displaced being integrated into society.
Some of us have been here for quite some time and have settled into our new lives; I realize not everyone is available at all times to help. But given that I've yet to find my place in this world, I'd like to place my focus in assisting in this way. Of course, I'm but one person, and should I find my way home somewhere down the line, I'd feel better knowing there will be someone taking care of things in my stead.
If you have any suggestions or are interested in becoming a part of this group, please let me know. I intend to message El with our contact information so that we can be notified when the next batch of arrivals show up. Currently, I'm looking into creating an antidote for the compliance drug we've been injected with. This will take time, but if anyone would be able to assist or if you have any information regarding it, please let me know as well.
For the record, I am a doctor for the organization I work for back home and have a background in pharmacology; the antidotes I'd created previously were to counteract poisons found in demons.
While this application isn't exactly the same, given time and through some trial and error, I'm hoping to be able to create something that can be administered to future new arrivals.
Thank you for your time.
[ ooc: tldr, shinobu is looking to gather a permanent group of people to help new arrivals after they're dropped off! here is the plot engagement thread for your reference. feel free to PM me on this journal or on plurk at
wooloos if you have any questions; this is mostly to gauge interest as well as to come up with a plan in case the group drops/is swept between arrivals.
i'd like to also ask if you could please keep private threadjacks to character inboxes, thank you! ]

@kisame.hoshigaki
I'm still not sure my face is the most welcoming, but I'm happy to assist.

Oh?
If I recall, no one threatened to gouge your eyes out this time.

[ Emphasis on try. ]

One would think you're asking for it specifically.

[ The attempt would just be entertaining, is all. Let him live! ]

Regardless of the outcome, however, I'd still like to have an alternative just in case.
Of course, the best case scenario would be that we wouldn't need to administer the antidote at all, but there's no harm in having a plan in place for the opposite.
no subject
I do think it's wise, as I said. Lord knows it'd help to assuage the general disorientation and fear upon arriving.
no subject
But if you are able to reach him, I'd like to sit in as well, if you don't mind.
It's a lot to take in all at once, for sure.
This isn't a solution to all our problems, but whatever can be done to make the process a little easier is worth looking into.
In any case, thank you for your help, Eugene.

( idle hands doin' the devil's work, an' all. gene ain't got the first idea of how to just sit an' exist without puttin' his mind to somethin' of note. there's a reason he whittles, an' one he works an' volunteers as much as he's able, even when it carves into his sleep. )
You're welcome, Miss. Just hope it helps out some in the long run.
@fenris.shartan
[But he may as well say it here too for transparency's sake.]

I'm still fairly new here and I haven't met everyone yet, but ideally, we'll be ready by the time the next group of new Displaced arrive.

( Is he a people person, or particularly alright with getting involved in locking people in the safehouse? No, not even remotely. However — the only possible worse thing that could happen in his eyes is somebody taking advantage of someone while they're vulnerable and undergoing trauma.
He'd rather spot a snake before it bit someone. )

When I've put a list together, I'd like to organize a meeting for us to meet in person and discuss the best way to proceed, as well as creating a system in place for our responsibilities to be carried on should some of us find our way back home.
If you don't mind, I can send you the details of that meeting once I've worked it out with the others.

@dick.grayson - the 20th
I've had training in leading others and have been known to take in others back home to try and help them get situated in their new lives. If I can be helpful with others finding themselves in this same circumstance, I'm willing to help.
no subject
My access to lab equipment is limited currently, but I expect to find mainly sedatives.
I appreciate your willingness to help us. As a new arrival yourself, you've now experienced first hand the process of retrieving you and the measures they've taken in order to integrate you into society.
While this committee isn't a solution to all our problems, the safety of new arrivals is our priority, as much as preserving what little consent they have upon arrival.
We may deal with arrivals that will not be very accepting of their current circumstances, if at all, and at worst, may lash out and harm others.
While I'd like to avoid using force, your own safety is also my priority. If this is something you'd still like to take part in, I welcome your help, but I also understand if this may not be a role you're interested in.

[His hair has started to grow back, the scar is more or less healed. What had they done?]
Understandable. You needn't worry about that. I'm trained in dealing with volatile people and to restraining them both for the safety of others and their own safety.

They're quite lengthy, so it'd be best to set aside some time to read them in their entirety, but they each have important information that can help get you up to speed with what everyone knows so far.
In that case, I'd be grateful for your assistance.
When I've gotten a group together, I'd like to arrange a time where we can meet each other in person. I'll send you the details when I'm able to coordinate with everyone.
no subject
I'm actually thankful for the chance. I'm not used to be inactive and just after a few days in protective custody as it were, I'm ready to throw myself into things. So thank you. Just let me know when.

But more people who can assist would definitely be helpful.
From what I've seen so far, people don't seem to be shy about confrontations here.
no subject
Definitely not shy, and not likely to ask for help.
no subject
You would think it'd be like pulling teeth for them.
Though, I suppose that's where we come in.

no subject
Sometimes all it takes is giving someone a chance.
That isn't easy, of course, but change often never is.
But I digress, thank you for taking the time to read this.
no subject
I'm not gonna join a committee or anything but I'll keep showing up when I can.
no subject
I'm still fairly new myself, so I appreciate you stepping in when you're able to.
@lance.sweets
So he's more neutral and reserved than he might normally be when he responds, and even then he's still just waiting for something to go wrong.]
I think this is a good idea, especially while we're working on a more long-term solution.
[He would vastly prefer there be no holding of new arrivals against their will at all, and that's an understatement, but he also knows he's pushed that as far as it can go at the moment. Of course, he's still quite morally conflicted about the idea of being complicit in the process, but logically he also knows that this is the only way to help in the meantime while another solution is being worked out.]
no subject
My priority is the safety of new Displaced and preserving what little consent they have upon arrival, while not jeopardizing the safety of older Displaced.
With time, hopefully we'll be able to work towards a more definite solution.
But I thank you for your support. If you have any suggestions or advice, please feel free to reach out to me anytime, in person or otherwise.
no subject
I do have something that might be helpful in regard to what you mentioned about working on a potential antidote. Before I arrived, another Displaced had the drug tested, and found out a little information; I'm not sure if you've already seen this or if it'll help, but it might be a start.
[He attaches a link to the post in question.]
@cassian.andor
The arrival at Red Wings is a little better than what it used to be, which was dropped off at random, at whatever festival happened to be going on. El used to be the one who would reach out to us about new drop offs, but now that we know of Henries involvement, he seems keen to do it himself.
no subject
Perhaps making a sort of guide similar to the others that everyone can have access to would be helpful in passing along the expectations and responsibilities, should any of us disappear.
Yes, admittedly, I wasn't expecting Henries to handle more than what he'd already done after retrieving us from the Trench.
I do agree that dropping them off at Red Wings rather than in the middle of a large gathering would be easier, but holding the new arrivals at the bar and then taking them to the safe house across town afterwards is risky in itself.
If we're able to establish a location closer to the safe house, that would be ideal.
no subject
It is difficult to know just how his role may continue to evolve, or what he expects. Hopefully someone can speak with him again soon. But you are right, picking a location that is closer for a drop off without revealing the exact placement of the safehouse might be something to look into. Red Wings, however, is convenient for being Displaced owned, which is a leg up on coordinates.
@drake.holloway
If you want to create an antidote to the compliance drug you might need a sample of it, right? Figure out exactly how it works?
not here, he's browsing @anon tho
@terrence.ephemera
Also I can break up fights.
