Do all of the AI in your world feel compelled to fuck with things? Do they have original purposes they were created for?

i've done some reading

no. they do what they want. they've got shit they were originally programmed for. most the younger ones still follow programming. a significant number of the older ones have evolved past it
in example: i know an ai named squire. was originally programmed as kind of a buddy system to help prissy rich college kids adjust to life outside their parents' next. made to adapt to situations, know how to resolve emotional traumas, etcetc
but college students wear on damn near everyone, and he was retired after fuck if i know how long
now he lends a hand to whoever he feels is worth it and outside of that, avoids people as a whole
