after the fire, i talked to one of the firefighters on site. he said the fire started at the nurse's apartment and that the nurse was found dead inside. no cause of death known at the time, but they were already considering the fire suspicious. he said there'd be a full investigation soon.

i went to have another talk with him, together with marcos diaz. [ between her powers of emotional manipulation and marcos' truth inducement, they make a good team. ]

he's not involved in the investigation, but he's heard a thing or two. apparently someone was stockpiling carcasses of the smaller creatures that attacked in one of the other apartments. apparently people have been doing that, looking to resale the bodies.

not sure how useful that is, but i figure we're better off sharing whatever information we get, no matter how random. maybe we'll spot a connection or a pattern at some point.

Someone's looking to resell the bodies, that's what Katelin said. It may not be the nurse, it may be someone else - anyone else, who it is doesn't matter - but either way look into seizing one of traders. On the selling or buying end.

No, my worry is that you're trying to find a ... what's a good metaphor for something very small lost in a very large thing? I think we'd be wise to find some of these sellers, but not for the coincidence you're referring to right now. For research. It's a good idea to run some more tests. The thing is, there may be countless people who fit the bill here. If these caresses are worth money, money is the means to survival, and they were all over the place for days.

In my world, people would scavenge anything that could help improve their life, either on the ground or in the Ark. Survival is different here, but if it's linked to money ... well.

Survival here may be different for you, but it's not for me. The people of Earth have remained unchanged for centuries; they're holding onto the same sins and virtues I encountered in 2038.

I don't consider searching for a needle in a haystack to be the waste of time you believe it to be. That's all.
