So, I never wrote or kept like a blog and I know that's not what this is for, but it's kind of what this reminds me of.

Anyway. I'm Scott. McCall. My friend Isaac and I, we're new. Not as new as everyone new here, but still new, and we need jobs.

I worked as a veterinary assistant for four years and inside the simulation I was an unqualified medic. I don't... know what's out there, for us. And, I hope maybe that this is easier than looking ourselves.

Isaac worked in a graveyard. He dug graves. But, he's really smart and, sort of sarcastic but he can really make you smile.

Anyway, we're just out of high school and we each had two jobs between us. But, we're quick learners.

Also, any downtime you have, let us know if anything needs to be done in the safe house. I know like a month ago there were things that were going to be built or improved or something. We could help with that.

Oh. One more question. Does anyone have like an iPod or something. I really miss music.

Yeah. I didn't go on any of the suicide missions.

( He knows he could've done more, but he's not sure what that would've been. Strong personalities who knows more than him were around. He's still wrapping his head around everything. )

I'm not that new? We have new people now, but I'm from the group before them. We were left at the war memorial. The one that basically detailed what was going to happen in the simulation. Foreshadowing. Thank you again for your help.

That's still pretty new. Especially when you got shoved into the sim almost right away. Do you want to do something in the medical field for work?

What they were trying to do went over my head. And if I could help patch people up, or just be there for them after or before, then that was enough.

I think maybe? At least at first? It's what I know. Or, partially know.

There aren't a lot of animals here, and only the uber-rich have pets that aren't robotic as far as I know. But you might be able to find a way to cater to them and take care of their animals when they get sick, who knows?

Yeah, they're pretty common around here since it's not feasible for most people to have living pets.

Not quite? Not... at all. A robot's not a pet. Or an animal. Maybe the robot can copy an animal's behavior, but it won't be that animal. Not really.

Is the place you're from anywhere like this world? Or has this all been culture shock for you?

Is there an in-between? It's not culture shock, not everything is. I'm not from the future, but my world's not normal. There are other worlds. And a veil between them. One I've pierced before. And my friend got taken into one and erased completely. ...We got him back.

"The future" is relative. What year was it for you? Or does your world go by a completely different system?

What was this other world, and how did you pierce the veil?

2014. What other system would you go by? Wait, like, of our lord? Like King Arthur times?

Bardo. It's like, limbo. Between life and death. Me and my friends, we took part in this ritual to save our parents. They were kidnapped. They're also okay now.

Not all worlds would count the years the way people do on Earth, is my point. Some of the Displaced are from completely different places.

Your parents were kidnapped? By who, and why?

Other worlds, you mean. Like, not even just other planets.

By a dark druids. A darach. For her revenge, she killed in groups of three to gain power. Parents, or guardians was her final trio.

Right. Places you've never even heard of, that don't exist where you come from. They can operate under entirely different sets of rules.

For example, we're both from some version of Earth, it sounds like. But druids aren't real where I'm from.

So, then we're still from different versions of earth. Are werewolves real?

Not as far as I know. Just the sort of thing you'd watch a movie or show about.

Spirit dragons.

What's a spirit dragon?

Good question. I don't know exactly how it works myself, but there are a pair of brothers who can summon these dragons to carry out powerful attacks in certain situations.
