can you start me off with how much you know about it in general, just a quick summary, so I don't start accidentally mansplaining

Well, from the looks of it, I'd assume it's not any type of trollish engineering. I've heard they've upped their game in the last couple hundred years.
So, consider it less mansplaining, and more mortalsplaining.
We aren't all from the same corner of the multiverse, you know.

You're gonna have to tell me about trollish engineering later on in exchange

Engineering is, in a nutshell, using science and math to create things that solve problems. It covers a wide range of thingys, from civil engineering (making bridges, structures, pipelines and waterways) to biomedical (if you're familiar with medical equipment, like scanners and even wheelchairs) to aerospace, electrical, environmental, you name it.

You basically fix stuff, or make stuff to fix stuff if you can't fix it directly.

I do mechanical engineering mostly, which is sort of like the jack of all trades, master of none specialty. It's mostly machinery, basic applied physics based stuff, a little electrical, a little chemical, kind of all over the place.

So run-of-the-mill middle-realms engineering with an eclectic flair. Yes, yes- understood.

Though you do know the end of that saying, don't you?
Jack of all trades, master of none, but oftentimes better than master of one.

Have you familiarity in engineering things outside the realm of mortal science?

as far as engineering outside of the mortal realm
one time I drank a shitload of tequila and stacked forty pencils in a way I'm told defied the laws of physics
alas that was my one and only claim to immortal fame

I've never heard the phrase drunken MacGyver before but I immediately love it and wish it could've been a college nickname.

You're not wrong about that, I tried. I don't know what the energy source is, but I know it isn't like a wireless charger where you glow in its general vicinity. Wish I hadn't figured that out the long way at the top of fucking Mt. Everest but in any case
