Also I saw you talking to Eugenides about the colors. Blue, white, gold, they're all colors from the places we visited for the gates so I bet there are ones glowing red, orange, purple, and black, too.

Your mother's a goddess, so arguably the Greek original religion is clearly the most accurate one.

They're all accurate, to a point. There's also Roman demigods apparently because Rome didn't have a single original thought and sorta kinda Egyptian demigods (they're different) and Norse gods since Loki exists and there is no telling if Jesus was or was not a demigod in his own right.

It's the retellings that makes it messy because none of them match up. Did Pasiphae really bone a bull or was some man trying to make her look like a lunatic? Is Medusa really a vengeful trash can? (Yes, she tried to murder my cousins.) But also maybe she shouldn't have been cursed in the first place.

That's probably Rome's saving grace right now, since really up until now I assumed that they were just copying the Greeks so all the gods and demigods were the same people just under second names. But if they have their own, I guessssssssss they're not just thieves.

Everyone's the hero of their own story. I'm surprised we haven't had any 'the villain's the hero!' stories about mythology, there's tons about like Disney villains and famous book villains, but all the redemption arcs are basically right there.

They're mostly just thieves, don't give them too much credit. They didn't even bother to change Apollo's name.

I mean everyone thinks Hades sucks but he's just doing his job. There's a lot of dead people, he's in charge of way more infrastructure than Zeus is, and Elysium and the Isles of Blest are in the Underworld so I dunno why he gets such a terrible reputation.

I mean he's a butthead for sure but he's probably very stressed.

I've always liked Hades mostly because I've irrationally romanticized him and Persephone for like ever and now I'm afraid you're going to be like THEY ACTUALLY HATE EACH OTHER YOU FOOL and all my OC fanfic inspired by them will be falsehoods.

If it helps gods can't really die. Their essences can be scattered and they can be stopped from reforming but especially with Persephone, spring comes back every year. She won't be down for the count for long.

I wish that was the case in my world, at least when it comes to her. She was one of the better gods we dealt with, she meant well and didn't treat humans badly. But she was destroyed by another god, and that is pretty final for us.

I hope so, she was good, she made my friend Julia a goddess for a little while, and she was a great one.

Julia's the BEST. She's been my best friend since we were kids. She has the best heart of anyone I know. Which kind of was proven that when she became a goddess, all she cared about was helping people, and then she gave up her goddess powers to bring magic back for everyone.
