i've made the offer before, but considering there are a few names on this network i don't recognize, i figure it doesn't hurt to make it again.

if you don't know what to do with your new ability, or you can't seem to figure out what it is, i'll help you. most people prefer one on one these days, but we can make it a group effort if there's a lot of demand. just try not to take anybody out.

and if there's something you need that you can't buy in a shop, i can try and make it for you. i don't charge. i just ask that you find me the pieces, and if it's something i haven't made before, bring me the blueprint. i can usually figure it out.

also: if we have any chemists in the house, i could use a hand figuring out a dendrotoxin from fitz's notes. i've managed to replicate the icer pistols we used back home, but i can't get the cartridges right. if we're going out in the world, it might be nice to have a non-lethal option at our disposal.

Yeah, sounds like people all seem to get something new. Which sucks, as magic is my thing.

Being kidnapped and all the ruin stuff in New Rio was pretty intense but nothing so far.

i get that. i had a thing back home, too. what i have here is neat and all, but it's not the same.

i've had at least one person discover their abilities by getting willingly shot. i don't recommend it, but things like that can definitely point out a defensive ability right away. emotions like anger or fear can usually trigger more offensive powers, and sometimes just meditating on your life can pull out the more nebulous ones. we had one guy who could basically focus like a camera lens... which sounds ridiculous if you don't know that he couldn't normally focus on anything to save his life.

I guess it's better than being powerless, as long as I eventually figure out what it is.

Interesting, I heard a lot of the time it like mirrors your inner self or something, but in that case it sounds like it was a contrast to something he lacked before?

i don't know what the goal is, but it seems like everyone's powers relate to them in some way. might be pointing out a trait, a personality quirk, or some flaw in their code — just kind of varies by person, i guess.

have you noticed your chest lighting up blue when you're not touching anyone recently?

It does that I think with the empathy right? I've tried to cover up my skin around people to avoid it. But does it also set off powers sometimes?

yeah, it's both. it'll light up if you touch someone, which will be pretty obvious with the empathy bond. kind of hard to miss that two-way emotional street.

but if your powers activate, whether or not you do it on purpose, that glow will pop up again. obviously if you can tell what your power is, that's not so helpful, but if it's less obvious then you might just get a hint from that.

That is SUPER helpful, thank you. I mean, it's possible if you have a more passive skill, you wouldn't be aware but if you're lighting up you can question why that is. I kind of assume if it was something like elemental magic being in danger would've set that off. My own magic mastery was in something subtle so I wouldn't be surprised if it's connected.

for what it's worth, some of the more subtle abilities wind up being the most useful.
if you figure it out, let me know. i'm curious to see what you wind up with.

The haircut is intense, I'm looking forward to growing out a bit. Eliot's very passionate about his hair so he's been grumpier. I was more worried about, you know, THE THING IN OUR HEAD. lol.

Yeah it's great having him, but I'm also one of those people who imprints on like everyone I meet within 10 minutes so I'll be caring up a storm before too long.

most people seem to go either way. i think they're both kinda shit, but at least the hair is something people can wrap their minds around. i can at least say from experience you don't want to fuck with getting the implant out. it's not worth it.

the implant's the only thing that lets us function in this world. everything from sending a text to getting and using money to opening doors. it's tied into literally anything you can think of.

she'd like you to believe she's a tough asshole who doesn't need your help. but she's one of the smartest people i ever met, and one of the most selfless in the right situation.
we kind of have that in common, i guess. the asshole part.

So I can't even imagine taking that out. Like I get it, no one asked for it to be in our head, so that sucks. It took away our choice and who knows what it's doing to us, but also rationally, living without it would be impossible in this place. Or it would make life really hard.

IDK what to say, you seem nice, you're offering to help on here, you're giving info. TBF though I am kind of an optimist and want to like people so. Two of my friends are for sure the biggest assholes I've ever met but they're really good people at heart.

there's got to be something. whatever it is, it's not in our implant, and there's nothing physically in our chest to test removing. i'm not sure what else to try.

Maybe it's just the flow of energy, the way this world works. Magic, powers, they exhibit differently, these may be the same amount of power just modified for the planet we're living on. But that's just one guess! We can keep thinking and theorizing on it though. I get not being happy with what we have. I miss magic a lot.
