A few thoughts before I make it too far down into this very exceptional bottle of moonshine I helped steal.

Quentin Coldwater and I were musing in our respective groups about what all we have to do with - well, for lack of a better way to put it, absolutely everything in this time, but more specifically with why.

Does anybody else get the notion that history could be repeating itself? That this happened once before with a different, more ancient grouping native to this universe - and planet?

Furthermore, is it possible there are others like us - others that wanted these gates to be activated again and we're merely accomplishing what they want - or perhaps, can't? Do.

Are we the only ones like us on this planet?

EDITING, as I pour myself another.

Perhaps we can set up a patrol of the New Amsterdam gate? Or, we can set some surveillance? The gates do work both ways and not knowing would could come through is worrisome, to say the least.

I can see it from the ... vision we got.

If not for them, then because of them. But, we were led there and others were literally dropped in their respective points on the globe, all leading to one final group kumbaya.

Who's to say there are others that are still around, who needed us to do their dirty work. Perhaps, because they themselves can't. Could their power have been stripped? Or, cut off.

Every question begets more questions. But, our shared vision did bring with it clear knowledge of what all we can do with these newly opened gates. There are no coincidences.

Could it be something simpler: someone knows about us and wants to use this power now that it's been opened up?

Then, is that someone friend or foe?

I don't know. Rey and I ruled out it being Ball because of how he and his followers have acted, but they haven't been subtle about us. Maybe someone else took notice.

And the dreams from before. The bridge?

Yes. Coming together, we created literal bridges. Over a hundred. How is it we all collectively know this to be true if we don't have a direct connection to our descendants, who may or may not be here among us.

No, we didn't create the bridges. We ... accessed them somehow.

Accessed again, it seems. Like a time long before us.

Ball referenced that. He said that the bridges were made by other god-touched, and said that we were god-touched ourselves. His information wasn't clear, but he said that he was certain that the bridges didn't bring us here.

Then again, he didn't know a lot.

And he was right about the gates. Maybe we should try to dig up more about his gods and seriously consider the possibility that he's right, and not just in a metaphorical way.

You know where I'm at on this. But all these gate things were set up, and required people like us to open it. That seems pretty directly pointing at it not being new, and since they're in ruins, maybe it was put into place hundreds of years ago.

And here we are, activating them all over again. Only, anything being in ruins implies something happened. Something catastrophic.

Yeah, although I wonder if something that monumental happened down there it would have wiped the entire area out and destroyed the portals. I guess the question is what are the benefits to this happening. To them opening up these locations. Are only Displaced able to use them or is this a can of worms we opened?

Mm. I don't know about history, but I am suspicious of the fact that we were made to open those gates by another party.
If someone else has a use for them, it may be a problem.

You're not wrong to be suspicious. Perhaps, we should schedule shifts of a sort in New Amsterdam, to see if anyone unrecognizable uses these bridges as a means of faster than possible transportation.

( There was a time he had a vampire and werewolf army at his disposal. Several, even. And he is not volunteering, by the way. If anyone thinks he is. )

What I want to know is how come it seems like every single city has a gate smack dab in the middle of them. The cities would have to be planned around them on purpose or in secret or by mind-controlly subliminal messaging or they move of their own volition to a city center. Which is weird.

AND! If there's been like 5000 years worth of people like us how come no talks about it? We know normal people see the glow, how come it isn't mentioned in classical Earth mythology?

( Silena. Hope's roommate. Another Klaus would have her followed, know everything about her and worry from afar, never quite trusting her because of his deep-seeded issues. But, he'd properly kept his distance and only learned about her from a distance. Most recently, he'd heard from Gene about his connection to her and his pie. )

Perhaps it's as simple a selective hearing. In theory. It's easy to explain anything away you don't wish to really delve into.

Then again, I've never been a strong purveyor of the internet. I wonder if there's a deeper subset of people - perhaps conspiracy theorists predominantly and exclusively posting about the "blue glow."

As for these cities, these gates are deliberate and vast. It's as if all cities are built to them. It is curious.

I am not proposing history repeats itself, nor how it can, I'm surmising that it has and is repeating itself. Perhaps this all happened once before. Or several times. How are we to know?

I'm assuming by "this" you mean us.
You're not suggesting that these lost in history were drugged, heads shaved, and then left somewhere at the most current city bash.

Technology has evolved over the years. The same is most likely true here in this universe. They may not have been drugged or left for dead, head shaved. Perhaps they passed letters along, or god forbid spoke in person in hushed tones. How am I to know?
