I have some news. Information. Whoever's been doing all this stuff to you and then dumping you in our city, they weren't so tidy this time. One of the nurses actually stopped and saluted a camera. I'll let you decide how to feel about that, but on my side, I'd call it a dick move.
Anyway, it means I caught his face enough to run recog, finally. They definitely know, though, because I've been barely managing to chase his info down before it's wiped. Which is also why I don't think we have time to waste, so I'm not waiting on preparing an established agent.
I'm sending his address through now. Let me know if you're following it. I'll watch your back. Literally.

[ Rey had linked with him when it was active. He's felt the impact of it, sort of, but it's still hard to pin down. ]
It just makes them feel safe. Like honesty's a good idea.

But you aren't wrong. I'm just saying, if there's a chance it'll make things easier then it's worth trying.
[ and because he doesn't know what level of honesty Scott's going public with, switching to private. ]
You know a lot of telepaths back home?

[ Talking about this via technological telepathy instead of regular telepathy doesn't actually feel very private, to Scott, but he doesn't have a choice here either. ]
You can trick a telepath, though, if you know they're coming.

Yeah? Got any pointers?

[ #NotAJoke ]
You can develop mental shields over time, but I don't know if the process of that comes differently for everyone (since I'm not a telepath.) For me, it partially comes from...how ordered my thinking is, in terms of what I want to do and how I approach the world, and how I handle my OCD. Knowing your own mind and how you think through things and then using that to your advantage.
But really it's about practice. Trust me, you get really good at not thinking things when you hang out with a girl who can hear everything you think. Especially when you're thinking things you don't want her to hear, and she might get in your face about it, even though she shouldn't be snooping on your thoughts.

[ Kidding, though it's true that repression is really not his specialty. Impulsiveness is, and maybe that isn't the worst thing - hard for telepaths to act on a thought when there's no lag between the thinking and the doing.
The rest of it is... familiar, in the way that all relationships are complicated and come down to boundaries and trust. More complicated with the telepathy involved, obviously. ]
You mean she couldn't control it?
