I was involved in the interrogation of Kurt Fischer. The decision was made to keep him contained. We did not kill him, he was not tortured, pains were taken to ensure he did not kill himself. The UNA did not offer us the same courtesy. They sent twenty five soldiers to collect one man. Of the three of us on watch, myself and a colleague were killed with intent and without hesitation. The third was lucky to survive.
Do not take them at their word. And do not turn this into a retrospective conversation about the value of murder. A choice was made, the consequences are what they are.
If you have questions, I'll do my best to answer them.

Well. I think you'll do great work.
[ patronising as that might sound, he's being earnest. ]

[ Arrogant, but. ]
You do realize I've been doing this - all of this - longer than you have, right? I know the cleanest way you kill yourself, your 'fellow agents', and the rest of us is to keep secrets. Secrets have a way of coming back to bite you.

[ that particular truth isn't exclusive to this sort of a situation. secrets kept by somebody who should've known better killed a lot of previously stable things in his own experience, too. ]
I won't be jumping ship, not given everything. But I appreciate why you wouldn't want to put yourself into Morningstar's basket now.

Morningstar is still valuable. If he's going to do this, then he needs to have people still on the inside of it. And he can't burn the damn thing to the ground to spite its founder and their friend. They still need its resources.
But he can't trust something like that, not when there are secrets upon secrets upon secrets. ]
If I catch wind that you've done something that stupid again, I'll force you into retirement. Understood?

[ he'll take a certain level of Damianisms, but a line has to be drawn somewhere.
he'll still take the point. ]
