@loki.odinson

There's an large, grey, trunked beast in the room that nobody seems to be addressing. Please, look around.
Go on, I'll wait.

SIGH.

Fine. Listen up! Lend me your ears! (And all other appropriate exclamations.)
It seems that there are others that have been delivered under the same circumstances in the middle of New Amsterdam since the smiting of the Godzilla. No Morningstar intervention needed. That means..... Well, there's certainly a lot that it could mean from El's message. To those unfortunate souls that find themselves out of the bonds of complacency and into the arms of kinda-sorta freedom: Hello. I'm sure some of us would like to hear what you remember, if anything.

As for the rest of us, I suppose this means that there are other inter-dimensional beings scattered around. We're certainly not the last.
Ah, speaking of no-good bad days, my horned diadem came out of my body while I was sleeping. My chest still aches. Goodie.

In dealing with all of this, we're not even awarded the comfort of salted breakfast meats.
Please tell me someone found a stash of cheap bacon somewhere.

Well. Small mercies.

[Time to hope that he doesn't wake up with something magically expunged from his chest one day. Fun.]

Thank you for answering my questions.

Which part? Answering questions, or having items pop out of your chest?

[Markus can certainly spare the time for text-banter.]

With a name like the one your ID is showing me, I wonder.

[Right. Okay, then.]

Not where I'm from. And I've been around a lot of "mortals".

[He has a feeling. But Markus isn't so much annoyed than he is continually curious.]

So why actually the name? Imagine yourself giving a straight answer.

[The least subtle mode of fishing now follows. Not that Markus is really trying for subtlety.]

Next you're going tell me that you really are the Loki from Eddas themselves.

[There is a not insubstantial pause that follows.]

I think I would be a hypocrite to disagree with you there.

Are you really Loki? I promise it's the only time I'll ask.

[Because this is just... what. But also, he wonders how many times it's been asked of him already.]

Twists and turns are what good mythology makes. But as it stands, I guess I’ll just take your word for it.

[Markus is the trusting sort, but this is a different level of nigh unbelievability. Or rather, it would be, if he himself could not claim to be an android now stuffed in a squishy human body.

He’s not sure if he wants to believe it so much as he’s inclined to believe it. The myriad questions are already bubbling up on his mind.]

What does it mean, then, that whoever’s brought us here can even tear a god away from his home?

More than the first two? Please share.

[His features darken when he reads that much, though it can't be seen.]

And that kind of control implies something far more disturbing for a lost, misfit group like us -- a purpose. One that no one can guess at.

If they’re looking for something else, strange that they would go to so much trouble to change some of us instead of just leaving us wheeling on the wind.

Not to say you’re wrong. But the idea of my body being stolen from me via a whim or a mistake doesn’t sit well.

I don’t know. It all seems to be made up of contradictions if you look at it too closely. Likely because we’re missing key pieces of the puzzle.

I’m an android. This body is very human.
