hi, everybody!

i just wanted to take a minute to say welcome to all of our new faces! in case i don't get to meet you in person, my name is caroline forbes, and i run the displaced welcoming committee with @prom.argentum and @sora.sky! if you need anything while you're getting settled, we'll be around to help in any way we can!

for anyone who's on rescue duty:

any of the cots with gift baskets are available for anyone you bring back! there should be fresh towels, a pillow, and sheets on all the open beds.
dinner is at eight sharp — don't be late! if you want to bring anything from the harvest festival to share, it would be really appreciated!!!
we are still trying to get more donations — clothes, linens, food, even activities and crafts for the safehouse! anything that doesn't require an id would be great. anything you don't want anymore but don't think is worth donating to the safehouse can go to the morningstar booth at the festival!

for anyone who's new and just joining us:

we have a really helpful new arrivals guide that you can download and read any time.
if you have any questions about anything in there, you can tag them in this post (@caroline.forbes will tag me!) and they can come to you. just be sure to give your name somewhere in your comment, or you'll just be anonymous!
if nobody told you yet, the first day is kind of a headache. you might feel better if you get some sleep!

hey! so long as there's +1 more person who can cook with bugs, it's really all that much better for all of us! someone who can cook at all is already pretty good news

They look gross, I know. But if they're crunchy, it isn't so bad. They soak up flavor like other things, or you can eat them with rice to take the taste away.

If there's tofu... It has good protein, and you can make it with soybeans. It has different textures. Peanut butter, too, if it's here. I ate a lot of those when I was vaulting in school.

I did pole vaulting in high school as a sport. I got a scholarship for college for it.

Oh, cool! We would train with the track team a lot. We shared the track with them for jumping. Do you run here? Gaby thought it'd be nice to put a gym in the safehouse.

Some people also said you could go to school here? You could try if you wanted. I'd help you if you needed a tutor.

Everything here is so advanced, you could probably do something you enjoyed instead of traditional school.

i'm working on my photography! trying to build a bit of a career in this place with it, so at least i'm doing something that i enjoy and know about pretty well

but yeah, i do run here, and a gym might be a cool idea even if it wouldn't have a lot of stuff
it would keep people doing things though!

Really? You do photography?! The photographer who took my vaulting pictures asked me to go to New York with him to help. I know a little of what he taught me, but I'm still new. I really enjoyed it, though.

We'll have to go running sometime. I told Gaby I would ask others about filling one of the rooms with a gym or something recreational. She thought a gym like wealthy people have in their homes would be nice. A home gym?
