hi, everybody!

i just wanted to take a minute to say welcome to all of our new faces! in case i don't get to meet you in person, my name is caroline forbes, and i run the displaced welcoming committee with @prom.argentum and @sora.sky! if you need anything while you're getting settled, we'll be around to help in any way we can!

for anyone who's on rescue duty:

• any of the cots with gift baskets are available for anyone you bring back! there should be fresh towels, a pillow, and sheets on all the open beds. 
• dinner is at eight sharp — don't be late! if you want to bring anything from the harvest festival to share, it would be really appreciated!!! 
• we are still trying to get more donations — clothes, linens, food, even activities and crafts for the safehouse! anything that doesn't require an id would be great. anything you don't want anymore but don't think is worth donating to the safehouse can go to the morningstar booth at the festival!

for anyone who's new and just joining us:

• we have a really helpful new arrivals guide that you can download and read any time.
• if you have any questions about anything in there, you can tag them in this post (@caroline.forbes will tag me!) and they can come to you. just be sure to give your name somewhere in your comment, or you'll just be anonymous!
• if nobody told you yet, the first day is kind of a headache. you might feel better if you get some sleep!

No, I'm just a guy who read before I asked some unnecessary questions. I've been here for about a month. More, actually, but time got a little weird for a while there.

Which, for the record, is what you should be asking about.

So then, guy who tells people what to ask, what's this weird stuff that you're talking about? Is it the alternate timelines? The dreams?

[ he was reading while he was looking at this, he's not incapable. ]

Not the timelines. Or, I don't think so.

We went to sleep on October 12th and woke up a few days earlier.

I don't know how long we were asleep. It felt like ages.

So, kinda like that.

What happened during those days you were asleep?

That depends.

Do you wanna know about what happened to us or the rest of the world?

It sounds like both are significant.

We were put to sleep during that time. It's hard to say what was happening outside.

When we woke up, it was a different date, and we'd been moved. The world outside was different. Subtly, but a direct response to our dreams.

Usually when a sleeping world is handled like that, it just settles things better in the waking world.

It didn't. And we have no way of knowing if it'll happen again.

even if there's a guide it's still a lot of information to take in
can't expect everyone to be an expert immediately after reading it

What did you do to get used to being here?

personally, i walked around a lot
i still do that

got to become familiar with the streets and different sectors of the city
also went around and make a point of hanging out with other people my age and connect with them a bit

you know.. the usual blending in
building those connections gives the impression that there's less unknowns in this place
