So, this isn't my first time being here, I've learned. I'm still wrapping my head around the whole thing but there's a few of you that know me and I don't know anything about you except what I've learned in the last few weeks.
You all probably know more about me than I know about you and that's weird. Nothing I can do about it but it's weird all the same. I half want to make lists of what you know about me so I can compare and contrast. I'm not going to though. You guys deserve to keep those memories of him — me — for yourselves.
Sorry that I'm not him, though.
Anyway, I'm not smart enough to really have an explanation on why this happened. I don't know if I was here and had my memories wiped and then got sent back. Pretty clear that messing with heads is pretty normal here and it wouldn't be a stretch where I come from either. But is there a way to test for that without cracking my head open?
Or I could be totally different person which just gets into science stuff that's above my pay grade. But I can't rule it out. Two of me. No one wants that, though. I don't know which explanation I really prefer either.
I need a drink.
[ for a few reasons. it feels like he's been barely hanging on for awhile now and this whole side trip to a futuristic society was really testing his ability to stay afloat. ]
Where's a good place to get a drink?

Where's a good place to get a drink?

[ that's...a thing, he supposes. not a thing that really sits well but what can he do besides voice that? ]
How detailed?
[ how much did she know? ]

Besides, you all volunteer enough on here that I don't need to do detective work to find it myself. I'm used to it making you edgy, like we're not the ones giving you money and a place to live. Well, that's changing, but that's how it was up until ... two weeks from now. So, not was. Will be.

Must give you some good reading material when you're bored at night.
[ a real life gossip tabloid right there. ]
Not was, will be, though? That sounds like a riddle.
no subject
Well, not unless I'm asked.
[ come to think of it, she ought to do that. ]

[ that sounds like a good thing for her, at least. a little less responsibility over a large group of people's never a bad thing. he knows that for a fact. ]
I've been in a position like that before, trying to stop people from fucking up. It's exhausting and I had help.

[ commiserating. ]

A few of them.
Get a bunch of mutants in one place, there's bound to be some that think they're better than others.
And want to do things their way.
We didn't let them.
So they split off.
no subject
Or maybe that's coming in the near future.

We ended up fighting people who were formerly our friends.
[ or even more than that in his case. ]
They might not know fucking off is an option either.
no subject
I doubt that scared anyone into not trying.
Maybe you all just get along very well and you don't know it.
no subject
[ it probably gave people something to think about, at least. ]
From personal experience, I can tell you that getting along doesn't have anything to do it. If there's someone in your ear, telling you there's somewhere better, people will listen. Loyalty goes out the door. Everything does.

I believe it's more that the matter of "better" can't be reached without the aid of those like themselves. For those two guys? I don't think they needed to go back home. That was the impression they gave off, anyway.
no subject
[ in your humble opinion and all that. ]
no subject
That's the way it should be for most of you.
[ as much as it seems like a non-answer, it isn't one. ]

Hence the potential preference for here rather than a nebulous where.

We've had a nice little conversation here but that doesn't mean much to me.

Why don't you ask your fellow Displaced why they stick around, if not for that? I think it'd be enlightening for everyone.
no subject
[ not a bad idea, though. ]

I don't know if I'm ready to roundtable everyone's thoughts on things here. Sure it's been done before.
no subject
But no one's answered that question, and now I'm curious.

[ least he could do. ]
See what everyone says. See if people even know the reasons. Might be interesting to hear for everyone.
