I'm in need of at least three people who are very sure what powers they have been given since arriving in New Amsterdam. It might be best if those powers are not of a destructive nature, but of course I'll take what I can get.
If we are strangers, all the better, but it's not necessary.
I could be of better use in New Tokyo if I can figure out what my power truly is, and I don't think that's going to happen alone.

My power ought to be safe to test with. I'm able to access the neural activity of others. I describe it as reading and speaking with minds but it isn't quite as simple as that. You won't be able to make sense of it without learning how to translate what you pick up, but that won't be necessary to know that you've accessed it.
[ as training wheels go, it's a good power to stretch hers with. ]

That does sound safer than something elemental, or even flight. And easy enough to see if I've accessed it, yes.
So ...it's almost as if you have a neural implant that allows you into the network of private thought?
Does that include memories?

That's an apt description.
[ the dreams suggest it's got the potential to be a lot more, but for now... ]
Presently all I can interact with is short term memory and the conscious mind. If a person's thinking about or has recently thought about an older memory then it falls into my remit, but otherwise no.

Thanks to Eugenides, I've possibly found a place for the ...experiment. A room where luggage is stored that would usually be locked sounds like somewhere relatively out of the way of discovery (not that we'd be doing anything wrong) or disturbance. It's mostly the latter I'm worried about.
