@gaby

[ this was supposed to be one of Gaby's days off. in fact, she's not in the safehouse when the message comes in. ]

Turns out that we're missing two new faces around the safehouse.

I'd play a guessing game as to why I wasn't told, but I don't care. These two faces apparently murdered two people that night.

I don't know who they are, but I do know that they're locked up. Any guesses as to what's going to happen to them?

Genuine question. Because I don't know.

Oh, and because some of you think you can do whatever the hell you want around here: don't think the way out for them is a jail break. Don't even fucking try it. And no, Morningstar isn't in the business of breaking people out of jail, because that would be stupid.

[ she's a little angry. no. a lot. but mostly she doesn't know how to handle this one. ]

Look. You know something? Tell me. You won't be "in trouble."

Honestly? A rescue of some sort seems to be the most straightforward action we could take if their imprisonment is an issue. But it is as you said; I am new to this world, and I don’t understand the needless intricacies that have seemingly cropped up in more than a thousand years’ time. Even so, is it still not a consideration, given what I’ve heard about the multitude of powers that individuals here possess? None that are quite creative enough to help us?

And another question, if you will. What sentence can a pair of “anomalies” expect for committing murder?

A thousand? You might just be the furthest back I've heard of.

I imagine it's still a consideration, but we also have to take into account the exposure any kind of breakout would result in. Especially if powers are involved. There's really no hiding that something greater's at play if an apparently impossible rescue is staged and that's too great a risk to undertake without significant prior planning. Both for the sake of the two being held were the attempt to be unsuccessful, and for the sake of the rest of us if it were successful or not.

If you need bringing up to speed on where we stand in this world, I can pay a visit to the safehouse later on.

As to the sentence, I don't know. I don't think any of us do.

The year I’m from is 1476. I hate to admit it, but I need more than just a small amount of help understanding this world and this “implant” in my head. That I’m even managing to write you at all is something of a small miracle.

[Innately clever, quick to learn — the only reason why Alucard even knows how to use the network at all. And even then, so much escapes him.]

It would be appreciated, though you’re under no obligation to visit.

At any rate, I may be new, but I refuse to delegate myself to the being idle. My powers are… dormant, it would seem, but certain physical attributes remain. I’m certain I can be of some use, if it comes down to it.

[ there's a decent delay on the response - Stephen's had his hands full elsewhere. ]

I've got a couple of things to do at the safehouse anyway. If you're happy to wait until I'm finished, I'll swing by and we can continue this in person while I do my best to fill you in.

Well, I’m a very busy man. Sitting around and unable to leave. I suppose I’ll find the time to wait.

[Peak sarcasm, directed more at his circumstances than Stephen himself.]

I’ll be here. My name is Alucard. I’m the one with blond hair and a generally confused look about me.

[ general resentment of the confinement clause is a big mood and Stephen Strange would personally fight anyone who tried to deny him the right to it. he walked himself right into that sarcasm while pouring salt on the wound, if anything it was earned. ]

Great. Stephen Strange, I'm the one with with exhausted hair and the semi-permanent scowl. Don't take it personally.

I'll see you later.

[Stephen Strange? What a name.]

Sorry to hear about your hair.

But thank you. Until then.
