@gaby

[ this was supposed to be one of Gaby's days off. in fact, she's not in the safehouse when the message comes in. ]

Turns out that we're missing two new faces around the safehouse.

I'd play a guessing game as to why I wasn't told, but I don't care. These two faces apparently murdered two people that night.

I don't know who they are, but I do know that they're locked up. Any guesses as to what's going to happen to them?

Genuine question. Because I don't know.

Oh, and because some of you think you can do whatever the hell you want around here: don't think the way out for them is a jail break. Don't even fucking try it. And no, Morningstar isn't in the business of breaking people out of jail, because that would be stupid.

[ she's a little angry. no. a lot. but mostly she doesn't know how to handle this one. ]

Look. You know something? Tell me. You won't be "in trouble."

I don't think that's true. They may be in great distress or not, but... they may also know a great deal we don't.

Interrogations are often a two-way street. Sometimes you have to give information to get information. They could be invaluable.

Perhaps, but perhaps not.
If they bring something valuable, maybe they can talk their way out of their own consequences.
cyberlife: don't do that. (pic#12506761)

I've considered this, but I have to consider the alternative. That's what we should all be doing.

Thinking "consequences" like that assumes guilt. We don't know anything about them.

Regardless of what they did and did not do, they were detained and threatened us with exposure.

They didn't even know we existed and likely still don't.

I'm surprised no one else has gotten into this kind of trouble.

When I got off of the very first bus there was no precedent for any of this. I was frightened, I was disoriented, and I thought I was going to die. I picked up one of the perpetrator's rifles and did the best I could to hold my own in the firefight. Does that mean that I should've been incarcerated and left for dead?

They have nothing right now. Can't we at least give them a choice?

[ WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS. ]

You were in the middle of a massacre, they were at a mortal festival.
Are you trying to make a point of about circumstance?

I can't say I'm entirely fond of those reckless enough to follow such whims in public, despite the worst of what's been done to us. There may be extenuating circumstances, with the issues of compliance and all that. Even if we have a chance to speak to them, and it's not?
What then, Connor?

Yes, because they still got off of a bus after being kidnapped, experimented on, and drugged for an indeterminate amount of time. This may not be a startling thing to you or some others, but it would be a traumatizing experience - one that may have influenced their decision in causing harm, if it wasn't the presence of the drugs forcing their hands.

If it turns out that the men did this intentionally and were merely interested in committing first-degree murder at the time of their arrival, which seems doubtful when there's no motive to do so, then I will reconsider my opinion at that time. It's understandable to doubt and to dislike what's happened, but I believe in the accused being innocent until proven guilty.

Especially with so many variables in play.

It seems negligent.
There are many variables, but you're look at some more than others.

What matters now are the consequences, I suppose.
Let's see what becomes of it.

You seem upset, or have I read the tone incorrectly?

I'm somewhat annoyed, perhaps.
There seem to be many opinions, and so much conflict that none of them go anywhere.
Are you trying to convince those of your position?
cyberlife: no, i am not shitting you. (pic#12506762)

[personal profile] cyberlife 2019-01-19 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Trying, yes, but the chance of my words reaching others is slim.
I'm not the charismatic one.

Sorry if I've contributed to the annoyances, Loki, it wasn't my intention to do that.

(it never is but he's ssssssssooooooo annoying, hank would be publicly denouncing him right now. "i'm not with him.")

[ if it's one thing that Loki basks in, it's chaos. there are plays here, and he can see them evolve in each conversation on the network. ]

Not just your charisma, but I'd keep in mind to cease using your morality as a weapon.

[ it reminds him far too much of other things he'd rather not think about. ]
cyberlife: i'm old, not obsolete. (pic#12333463)

[personal profile] cyberlife 2019-01-19 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm aware morals here vary, but that's exactly why people should rethink what they've been saying. Not one of us can judge the two we're discussing, or any other new arrival for that matter.

That's not weaponized morality, that's common sense.
selfimage: — ɢᴀʀʙᴇᴛᴛ — (Kingdom come.)

[personal profile] selfimage 2019-01-19 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[ this feels like something far too close to home, and he dislikes it immensely. ]

How strange your view of common sense must be, as you would believe it should dictate not to chase those away who agree with you.
I suppose that's where we are.

Toodles.
cyberlife: the name "chicken feed" should've tipped you off. (pic#12637976)

[personal profile] cyberlife 2019-01-19 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
No, but I suppose I was under the impression this was a mature discussion that wouldn't lead to someone I trust as a friend leaving in an unfortunate way.

I wasn't chasing you, I was talking - like everyone else has been.
